The clock was ticking. The young officer Jason was waiting for his phone to ring. Jason had been waiting for a call from his partner, Dennis Matting who was at the head office interrogating a possible suspect. Jason was made to wait at the hospital with the dead body. The dead body of Mr. Albert Smith, the multimillionaire who was allegedly murdered. He looked at Mr. Smith and wondered why was he made to wait here when usually the hospital looks after the victims. Dennis had told him that the reputation of the man was huge to be dealt by a junior.
Jason was starting to lose his temper. Usually a calm person, Jason was brought up in a family of ideals. His mother, a teacher by profession but more of a farm girl. His father was a war veteran. One of the major reasons he chose to become a police officer. His 5 year career had seen him dealing only with some petty thieves and pickpockets so far. His personal life was not so interesting. Since his childhood, he was used to being alone. His father would be away for work and his mother was busy helping others. When he was 11, his father had left them for another woman he had met at work. He was devastated as his father was his only inspiration. Soon, his mother could not bear the loss and she killed herself. It was the most shocking thing because his mother was the person who stopped suicides. He realised that the people who help others are the ones who are sometimes more depressed. He saw his mother take everyone's responsibilities and problems and help them get over them. But she was gone. He was 14 then. He was locked in the night they took his mother away.
Suddenly, the phone rang. Jason came back to his senses and heard chaos on the other side.
"How can you say that the suspect was just a mere guess!?", a familiar voice of Commissioner Barbara Johannes was heard. She was the perfect candidate to be the commissioner. She was just 5 feet 7 inches tall. But when she opened her mouth and you happened to look in her eyes, you immediately became traumatized by her command over her voice. She could make you or break you in just 5 minutes. She was the first person Jason had talked to when he applied to be a police officer. He was amazed by her personality. She was the one who decided that his partner should be Dennis.
"Look Jason, I'm sending the forensics team there. You leave as soon as they reach. We have been wrong so far. Get ready for the big case you have been waiting for. This is it. Meet me at the Delight mansion.", Dennis hung up before Jason could say anything. Judging by the voice of the Commissioner, Jason was sure that this was not the usual small cases. This was a serious issue.
Not so far away, in the middle of a forest, a hooded figure rushed to the clearing.
The phone rang, "The job is done, everything has been done as planned."
The voice on the other side seemed not so pleased, " And what about the officers?"
"That's the good news, they have appointed Jason and Dennis."
He could sense the other person smiling."You have done a good job. Get some rest. It is going to be a good time."
