Amanda Fisher:
I checked my watch and plopped myself down on the floor. It was my last year going trick or treating, and he was late. I can't believe him.
Andrea, Dana, Brian, Noelle, Alexandra (except she liked being called Alex), Maria, John, Jordan and Maia were all here, and now were just waiting on Charles, which was weird, because he was always on time. We all sat on the floor in a circle, because my parents had sent the couch out for a cleaning or something.
"Honestly, where the hell is he?" Brian asked, exasperated.
"I honestly have no clue, Bri." Dana replied.
"Why don't you try that IM thing you told me about?" Brian asked.
I should probably explain. See, Dana, Noelle and Maria are legacies, grand children of the Gods, where as Andrea, Jordan, Maia and I are just plain demigods. Andrea and I are half-sisters, children of Apollo, Maia is a daughter of Athena, and Jordan is a rare nice child of Ares. Brian, Alex and John are normal mortals, who were told about the demigod world. It's a long story how, but I'm not explaining that bit.
Just as I was about to call him for the sixth time, the doorbell rang. I sighed in relief and crawled to the door, too lazy to get up, and I opened the door to a six-pack.
I fell back in surprise, and I heard Charlie laugh. He reached out his hand and helped me up, and I actually got a good look at his costume.
He was a gladiator, Ancient Greek style, with a bare chest and one of those skirt things. Leather sandals laced his feet, and he had a shield strapped to one arm, and his sword, which was a small version of his fathers, handcrafted by Hephaestus, in the other. To most people, it would look like a fake one, but I knew Cheímaros, or Torrent, in English, was very real and very deadly. One of those stupid helmets adorned his head, covering his floppy black hair, and really showcasing his beautiful eyes.
If you asked me, it was unfair that he got such pretty eyes. See, his dad had sea-green eyes, and his mom grey eyes, and they combined beautifully into his, which could only be described as a coloured contact lens I once saw labelled "Caribbean Aqua." (Real thing. Actually Google it guys!) His long, black eyelashes fanned his cheekbones when he closed his eyes, and he had this wonderful trouble maker smile, which I hear he got from his dad.
But I don't like him that way. There's no way we could ever be together. We just couldn't. Anyways, back to reality...
"I like your costume, Mands." He said.
We each had to pick someone in the group, and do a sort of couples costume with them. Maia and Jordan, who were dating, were both werewolves, Dana and Brian were a cop and a prisoner (with Dana as the cop and Brian as the prisoner, which I found funny), they were also dating, Maria and John were ketchup and mustard, because they have one of those stupid sappy relationships, and they wanted to do something cute, and Alex and Noelle were an angel and the devil. Alex had originally planned to go with her boyfriend, but things got messed up when they broke up for the third time this week a couple days ago. Then I was a warrior princess, with Charles being a gladiator. That left Andrea, who decided she want to be a vampire penguin. None of us questioned her. (THAT'S WHAT I'M ACTUALLY BEING!)
Of course, we all had weapons hidden away. Maia had a dagger hidden in her sleeve, and Jordan's sword magically camouflaged into whatever he was wearing, so you couldn't see it. Instead of a gun in the gun holder of Dana's police suit, she kept a small knife for Brian, and instead of the baton normally kept, she kept a dagger, which the mist would cover. Maria and John's costumes were more than big enough to hide a ridiculous amount of weapons under, and Alex and Noelle each had hidden in either their wings in Noelle's case or the cape in Alex's case. Andrea had a quiver and a bow on her back under her penguin costume, and the vampire fangs she was wearing actually had celestial bronze tips. For me, I had a dagger attached to my thigh, another one hanging off my belt, a quiver over my back, and a bow in my hands. I also had more weapons hidden in the folds of my dress. You could never be too careful.
