The soul

I looked at the dead body, he was a...deputy, I mean, he wasn't the best, he was a bit off, how he always treats his tribe like servants, do this, do that, and now I look at him, a cold, still body, Emma starts to cry, I bet she is hungry, I go feed her in our tent, I look at her sweet innocent face, how pink her lips were, how her hair was yellow, she was only 3 days old, yet she looks like she was still newborn, she opened her eyes, they were blue as the sea, I guess Hern was right, she does take after me! I giggle, as I put a sleeping Emma in my nest, the doctor made her a blanket out of my t-shirt, as promised, I give her a little peck on her head, then I go out to do some chores, I really don't like being trapped in my tent doing nothing, I am always bored when that happens, I begin to clean the nests, I go get some more clean sheared animal skin for the nests, I spread them neatly on top, then I go take the dirty animal fur, and begin washing them, when I am done, it was 5pm, I go to my best to take a nap, when I see a white fox sitting down where Emma was, she was sitting down, looking at me, wagging her tail, I shift into a fox, then I mind link her, "hi Emma!"
"Hi mama!" She says, I'm surprised that she can talk! "Mama don't worry! I may be small, but I can definitely talk in my mind!" She says I go up to her, and we shift back, I quickly change my clothing, and I give Emma her blanket, she closes her eyes, I put her in bed again, I turn around, and there, lies a ghost, looking at me, looking at Emma, the ghost who will haunt me and my child for years, the last deputy's soul, he is the lost soul, I stare at him in horror, he smiles all evil, he disappears and the next thing I remember is that scream, the camp is invaded! I sniff the air, rogues! They are invading camp! I quickly hold Emma and hurry to the hideaway, on my way I see that face, that piece of rot is back! I run as fast as I can, but it's too late, she gets hold of my leg, I fall, but I hold Emma in safety, Stacy looks at Emma, let's go of my leg, and starts heading towards my baby, I kick her in the face, she screams in agony, I run to the medicine tent, I then open the hideaway door, and jump in, the mothers and children were in the same spot, cowering, some were whimpering, some were covering their eyes with their hands, I hand one of the mothers Emma, then I go close the door, I take back Emma, I hear a bash, and the next thing I knew, Stacy was inside, I hugged Emma hard next to my heart, she comes closer, closer and even closer, she takes out a gun, everyone starts screaming, she starts shooting, blood spatters everywhere, I start crying and hiding, the Warriors come down and start fighting the maniac, she shoots the gun everywhere, some warriors fall to the ground, and as she was about to shoot again, a warrior stabbed her with an arrow on her back, she falls to the ground, dead, as I look around, I see mothers and children running around looking for their companions, I look down, and I see that Emma is not there! I start looking around, and I finally see a white fox growling at Stacey's body, she looks my way and whimpers, I look at her, confused, she points up with her muzzle towards the door, I pick her up, but she doesn't shift back, this must be important, I run outside, and she jumps out of my hold, and starts running to the left, I catch up to her, and when I do, I see my...my mate!!! He is laying down, he looks up at me with eyes full of sorrow, it starts raining, and I cry in time with it, "don't cry, my sweet... Take care of our *cough* baby..." He shifts into a fox, and then I shift into a fox, Emma is still a fox, 'Emma?' Hern coughs, 'papa!' She exclaims, I look at her, sadness filled her eyes, her ears twitch with every raindrop, 'take care of your mother' he says 'I will, and that is a promise' she says back, she whimpers, and that shatters my heart, I look back at Hern, he starts to close his eyes, 'no!' Me and Emma shout, he smiles, then his face gets serious again, I then remember a world full of darkness...
