Josh watched from afar. He can't help but look her way whenever she is in the room. He averts his eyes whenever she looks his way. She would know just by catching his eyes what his true feelings are. Joshua was very interested in the mystery that is Maya Hart. He wished he could just go up to her and ask her on a date but he couldn't. She was 14 and he's 17. He loved everything about her but he can't admit it. He loved her laugh, her golden hair, her cool blue eyes, her style, her everything just attracted him.
"Present time." Topanga announced. "Josh your first, who did you get." Josh was actually nervous because he had chosen Maya. Joshua slowly got up and went to Maya, "I got Maya." He presented a bag to her. Maya smiled, she took the bag, and took the stuffing out to find an art set consisting of color pencils, crayons, oil pastels, etc and a sketch pad.
"Thank you Josh." Maya then gave him a hug and he hugged her back. When she pulled back he was disappointed but tried not to let it show, he just smiled at her. "Your welcome."
"Mrs. Matthews can I go next." Maya asked
"Of course go ahead."
"I got Josh." Maya pulled a rectangular box from under the tree. "Here." Josh took it and opened it to find a watch. A black watch with Roman numerals. "Wow Maya this is really nice, thank you." "Maybe I'll be early to school for once." He whispered to her and she tried to keep the smile off her face.
"Hey guys look up." Riley told them. They both looked up to see mistletoe. Josh swallowed nervously. He cupped both of her cheeks, Maya's breath caught as he leaned down and gave her a quick peck on her lips. Maya blushed furiously and looked away quickly when he removed his hands from her cheeks.
"Maya?" She looked up at him and gave him a small, shy smile.
"Can I talk to you?" Maya nodded. Josh lead her to Riley's bay window.
"I do like you Maya but I was going to wait until you got to High School so it would seem less weird." Josh said once he sat down.
Maya looked at him from where she was standing. She then went up to him, looked at him straight in his eyes and kissed him. She sat on his lap just as she pulled away, "I won't wait for you. If you want to date, ask me now."
Josh took a deep breath, "Maya Penelope Hart will you go a date with me?"
"Yes." She said as she leaned her face closer to him with a smile on her face. She put her forehead to his.
"Maya.....Oh sorry." Riley blushed when she saw the embrace her uncle and her best friend were in. "Shawn's leaving and he wanted to know if he could give you a ride home. He doesn't think a young girl should be using the train home at this time of night."
Maya looked at Josh, "Actually Riles is it okay if I spend the night."
Riley smiled, "Yeah of course." Riley stood there in the doorway for awhile looking at them. "Aren't you going to say bye to Shawn."
"Oh yeah." They both said getting up from the bay window. Josh laced his hand with Maya's.
"This has been the best Christmas." Josh whispered in her ear.
