Chapter One
P.O.V Petunia Laretta Cooley
As the voice started to fade, I heard someone calling for me.
"Young Mistress, are you alright?" A familiar voice so sweet, yet so deadly, spoke to me.
"Mmm?" I slowly opened my eyes to see a bright light. I squinted and block the light with my arm. Soon my eyes adjusted and I saw my trusted maid, Nicole, standing in front of me with a concerned look on her face.
"Oh. I-I'm just fine. Only another one of those nightmares. Not that I can't handle it." I cleared my throat before I continued. "Why are you in here so early?"
"Well young Mistress, I believe your nightmare has messed with your schedule. It is your normal waking time." She smirked, apparently having fun with my situation.
"Ugh..." I groaned and, due to my lethargic body, I got back under the covers and pulled them over my head. "I don't want to get up...."
"My lady! I do not have any kind of patience for these sorts of things, not in any circumstance will I follow your inconsistent whims. Now get up." She said sternly.
"No!" I grumbled childishly, and curled up tighter. "Why can't I just stay in bed?"
"Because, my lady, today is going to be a very busy day. Now up you go!" She lifted the covers off of me. I groaned, but I grudgingly sat up. I stretched and yawned, rubbing my eyes.
"All right. What are my plans for today, Nicole?"
"Would you like a cup of your herbal tea first, my lady?" Nicole started to prepare my tea.
"Yes please." I reply and swung my legs to hang off the edge of the bed.
Nicole poured my tea and put in my desired amount of sugar and cream, stirring. I nod my thanks as she handed it to me. I blow on it lightly before I took a small sip.
"Yerba Mate, eh? I must be having an eventful day for you to give me this." I observed.
"Well of course, my lady. You've been invited to Lord Phantomhive's ball this evening." As she spoke, Nicole brought out a beautiful purple dress that would fit me perfectly around the waist.
"A ball? You know I can't dance!" I exclaimed, having not been informed of this earlier. I put the tea down on the tray before I jumped under the covers a second time.
"Petunia! Please, as your friend, I ask of you to go." She pleaded. I ignore her improper way of addressing me.
"Why?" My voice is muffled from the blankets, but my demonic friend heard me clearly.
"Well because Lord Phantomhive requested you directly. Come on, please? I heard he's cute and well mannered; and I do believe you will get along perfectly!" Nicole was overly excited for this situation. I couldn't help but wonder what could possibly make me want to get to know a man like him.
"And yet, I don't see how we would have anything in common. Send him a letter saying that I am too sick to come. Which is partially true. I am sick of balls. I only end up eating at the snack table or sit on the side lines..." I grumbled again, waving a dismissive hand.
"Well that was before you had me. Let's go please. How can a human like you be so sour and not love to have fun? I assure you that you will not be sitting at the table this year..." She trailed off, giving me a sly smile, then continued. "Besides, I already told him yes." Nicole kept trying to persuade me.
