"Class, settle down, settle down. I know that we've all had a long and fun weekend. I hope you have been practicing your instruments?" Miss Ruben said, raising an eyebrow. We all nodded. "Kaya, Carson, how is your performance going?" she asked. I blushed.

"Uhm, pretty well. We've been practicing." I said, glancing at Carson. His signature smirk was on his face. I looked back to Miss Ruben. "Yeah..." I trailed off. She went to another group.

I felt my phone buzz in my front pocket. I sneakily set it on my music stand and checked the texts. It was from Carson.

Cars: You should meet me after school.

Kay: uhm... what for?

Cars: i'll tell you at lunch.

Kay: uhm. okay?

I put my phone away, as Miss Ruben was coming towards me. I smiled at her innocently. Luckily I have a reputation for being a good girl in her class.

**AT LUNCH**

I met Carson in the hall. "Okay..." he trailed off, looking at his feet. "You know what? I'll tell you after school." I looked at him extremely confused and went to find Baylee.

"Bay! C'mere!" I said, finding her blonde hair. She turned around.

"What's up Kay?" she asked. I ran to catch up with her.

"The weirdest thing happened." I said, walking towards the lunchroom. I told her about what happened with Carson.

"It sounds like he's going to tell you something important." Baylee said, taking a bite of her apple. My eyes widened.

"Does it sound like he likes me?" I whispered. Baylee nodded. I was shocked. I never expected someone like Carson to like someone like me.
