I woke up the next morning, Friday morning, with extreme bed head. I showered really quickly and did my hair in a really fast, yet really cute, do', a side braid. Then I got dressed in the outfit I picked out the night before. Today is the Wild West Rodeo/Fall Festival at school. Eighth graders are required to volunteer, so Gramma made me sign up. I'm also part of leader ship club, and we got to make the flyers. We did a pretty good job on them. My outfit is a red and white plaid button-down shirt, skinny, denim jeans, a belt and cow-girl boots. I crept down stairs to see Gramma setting up breakfast. "Good morning," I said, yawning. "Good morning, sleepy head."she replied. She slid a bowl of kiwi, strawberries, bananas, cantaloupe, and apple slices. "What's this?" I asked, because this was not my usual breakfast. "Is it a special occasion?" Gramma laughed. "No, I felt like you needed a break from toast." I felt suspicious. "Ooooookaaaaayyyyy," I said in my detective voice, squinting my eyes. I pushed away from the table and went to brush my teeth. I caught the bus and sat down in my usual seat, turning on my music until Amelia comes on the bus with big news. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and..."Bailey!" 0. "I have big news!" Amelia cried. Classic Amelia. "What is it this time?" I asked. "Shar's is having a Christmas special!" Amelia shrieked. "What?" I asked. "But it's in 2 months!" "I know! We start PRACTICING today!" again, there she goes with the shrieking. The angry, old bus driver gave us a glance in the mirror, and Amelia immediately sat down next to me. We ducked behind the seat and shivered. We've had that bus driver for over 3 years and he still creeps us out. Speaking of being crept out, "Hey, what are you being for Halloween?" asked Amelia. "I'm being the Statue of Liberty," I replied. "You?" "Snoopy." said Amelia, very proud. "Like, the dog?" I asked. "Yeah, I thought that would be cool," she looked at me with hopeful eyes. "Oh, it's a great idea!" I said. Our bus pulled up in the parking lot and we were the last ones to get off. We said thank you to the bus driver and headed to class. I have math first hour and Amelia has science. We have 3rd hour together. Math went on for what felt like forever, and then I went to Spanish. The teacher is señora Delarosa, the nicest teacher in the whole grade. When that finished, I headed to 3rd hour, social studies. When I sat my stuff down at my seat, I went to talk in the corner of the room. Out of the corner of my, I saw Daniel walk in. Wait, I haven't told you? Daniel has been my crush since 2nd grade. He has shaggy, dirty blonde hair and he's on the swim team. I don't mean to be a stalker but, sometimes I stay after school to watch him practice. So graceful. Back into reality, whoa, he's coming my way! Quick! Fix my hair, laugh like said something funny and..."Hey, Bailey." Time up. "Oh, hey Daniel." Hey Daniel? That's all I could think of? I hit myself in the head. Hard. "Are you ok?" Daniel asked me. Uh oh. He saw. "Oh yeah. I do that all the time." He nods like he thinks I'm a creep. This is not a good sign. If you're reading this, I want you to know that if died of embarrassment, not old age. "So, uh, Bailey, I was wondering if you want to go see a movie this Saturday." Daniel asked. I froze. I could not breathe. I felt like those workers in the moral at the DIA. Frozen in place. Not able to move. I managed to squeak out a noise that sounded like "Uh" but I'm not so sure anymore. Play it cool Bailey! "Sure." I faintly replied. Nailed it.
