Thump. Thump. Thump. The sound of my shoes pounding on the pavement as I ran away from my pursuers resonated within me. Gasping for breath, I willed myself to keep going. To keep pushing my aching limbs and to not give up. I can't let them get me. I have to survive. I NEED to get out of here! For Danny. My legs started to give out just as I spotted the one place that I was trying to get away from. No! I can't be here! I was trying to lead them away! I have to turn around. My throat burned with the combination of suppressed tears and dehydration. My lips dried up with every gasping breath. I can't stop. I want to. I turned the corner to start leading the evil away from the building where my heart lay. If I can lead them away far enough, I can lose them and come back.

Smack! My body collided with another and I fell back with a groan. No. I didn't make it. They're going to find them. Find him. I'm sorry. I failed. I'm sorry Danny. Tears finally escaped my eyes and the evil loomed over me. Their rasping breath washing over me. Sobs wracked my body and I lay to their mercy. I'm sorry. I couldn't stop thinking it. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry.

"I'm sorry!" I wept out loud as the evil's claws descended down and – CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SON! THERE'LL BE PEACE WHEN YOU ARE DONE!

I awoke with a startled gasp. Holy shit. I thought. That was some dream. I felt my heartbeat. It was pounding like crazy. What the heck brought on that dream? I don't remember reading anything or watching anything remotely within the realm of the horror drama. The alarm was still blaring, Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas, into my ears. I groaned and freed myself from the covers that wrapped themselves around my legs. Leaning over, I smacked the button that quieted the catchy yet overplayed song.

"Why in the hell did I choose that song for my alarm?" I groaned into my hands. "Oh well. I'll change it another time." I wriggled myself out from under the rest of the covers and stepped onto the carpeted floor in my room. Looking around, I noticed that the sun was much higher than I expected it to be. What the hell? I looked at my clock. "HOLY SHIT! I'M GOING TO BE LATE!" I screeched as I ran to my bedroom door.

Opening it, I bellowed down the stairs, "WHY IN THE HELL DID NO ONE WAKE ME UP?!?" I was greeted with startled laughter. Groaning in frustration, I slammed the door and rushed to the bathroom that was, thankfully, connected to my room. I'm going to be fucking late to work!
