Kaity, Luke, and I had been eagerly awaiting our camping trip. We had been planning it for months and it was nearly time to head into the mountains. The weatherman said it was going to be warm and sunny all weekend. So much excitement flowed through my body, I had so much planned and couldn't wait to put them into action.

Loading up for the trip we made sure to pack our tents, some firewood, a gun for safety, food, lawn chairs, and of course some clothes which I know for a fact they won't need. After double checking to make sure we packed all the supplies into the trunk, we climbed into the car. Luke driving, me in the passenger seat, and Kaity in the back. With the music blaring, we were off.

After about two long and bumpy hours on the twisting forest road, working hard to avoid the occasional stray elk and rabbits, we had finally arrived at the abandoned campsite. Stepping out of the car and looking around, the view was breathtaking. The sun was just starting to go behind the trees with green and yellow leaves that were surrounding us, autumn air blowing around us with birds and crickets chirping in perfect harmony. Looking at my friends I saw them also staring in awe at the view in front of us. Once we fully taken in the sight we began to unpack the car and set up camp.

Kaity was the first to try and set up her tent alone and after watching her short figure wrestle with the tent Luke finally spoke up.

"Hey Kaity, would you like some help?" Looking back at us with her big blue doe eyes she slowly nodded while Luke chuckled. Within an hour we had all three tents set up and our chairs surrounding where the soon to be fire would burn.

"Hey Mr.Eagle Scout, you wanna make us a nice warm campfire so we can start roasting marshmallows?" Kaity asked Luke.

"Are you serious? You want to eat marshmallows before dinner, you're going to spoil your appetite!" He gasped.

"Dude we're all eighteen here and you sound like my mom. You need to chill and live a little. So why not?" I replied as I grabbed his arm to drag him to the car. Luke grabbed some logs as I grabbed the plastic bag with all the s'mores supplies.

Once Luke got the fire started, we all relaxed back in our chairs roasting marshmallows and reminiscing over the good times we've had together. I even forgot some of the memories until they brought it up. This moment is a memory I will never be able to forget, even if I tried.

"Are we going to be eating dinner tonight?" Luke questioned right as a loud clap of thunder sounded overhead with  lightning filling the sky and light drops of rain starting to fall. "Well it's a good thing I always keep extra umbrellas in my car now, isn't it? Everyone laughed at me when they saw the umbrellas, but look at who gets the last laugh." Luke grumbled as he went to go retrieve the umbrellas from his car.

"Well it looks like the weatherman was wrong. Damn you can never trust those guys." I chuckled as Luke brought back the umbrellas.

"Hearing the rainfall is making me have to go pee," Kaity groaned. "I'll be right back."

I waited a moment before putting my plan into action. "Hey, I'll be right back I'm going to relieve myself also." Sneaking off to the car I grab the gun and make sure it's loaded before I attach the holster to my belt, I followed Kaity's steps to see her squatting behind a tree. At least I won't have to worry about her crapping her pants. Walking behind her, I grab her long soft blonde hair to make her look me in the eyes. As soon as we make eye contact I can see the fear in her eyes. She was always a quiet one, I have found myself wondering many times if she was a screamer. I guess I'll never find out. Taking the gun out of the holster and off of safety I point it directly between her eyes and pull the stiff trigger before she can even make a squeak. I feel the pure joy and adrenaline run through my veins as soon as I watch her lifeless body fall on the crunchy leaves, and feel her ruby red death wine splatter all over my arms. Taking out my pocket knife I slice her pale throat, wrists, and stomach to let the blood drain from her body and to take the organs out so the meat doesn't rot. Putting the gun back on safety and into the holster I took a step back to admire my work when I realized I needed to head back before Luke came searching for us.

On the way back I work on ridding myself of the blood of my once best friend so Luke doesn't get too curious. When I get back to the campsite I saw that he was having an internal battle so I thought it would be the best time to scare him. Jumping on his large frame, I woke him from the battle.

"Hey I was just about to go looking for you guys. Are you okay I heard a gunshot?" He sounded so concerned.

"Yeah I'm fine, I heard something move in the bushes and shot at the sound. Wasn't the smartest idea but it was only a big bunny." I laughed

"Oh." He chuckled, "Where is Kaity? She's been gone for a while."

"She's probably just taking a long dump. You never know what Kaity is doing, ever."

"True, true. I'll give her two more minutes before I go looking for her." I just nod along with his reply. After two minutes pass he starts to get up.

"It's starting to get dark so I'll grab the flashlights and help you look for her. I mean four eyes are always better than two right?" He just nods.

With the flashlights I follow him, shining the light everywhere. As we get closer to her body I start getting more and more antsy. I wonder how he'll react. Will he freeze, or run, maybe even fight? The fighters are always the best because then you know you earned the food.

"Wait! Shine the light back over there!" Luke's exclamation shook me out of my thoughts. He must have found the body. I do as he says and I can feel the  sadistic smile slowly appearing on my face as I look at my handy work, It's so beautiful. I turn to look at Luke and he looks paler than a ghost. "Y-you lied, you said you shot a bunny, and, you lied." He stuttered. "Why?"

"I was hungry for my own kind, and oh my the taste of man is so much better than any Christmas brisket or Friday night's fried chicken." I moaned at just the thought of devouring them.

In a blink of an eye Luke is running away from me. So he wants to play a game of cat and mouse? No problem. Running after him and lessening the distance between us was hard, but not impossible. When I was less than ten feet from him I took the leap of faith and jumped on his back. Me jumping onto him didn't take him down, he just stumbled a couple of steps but he was still on his own two feet. Since plan A to take him down didn't work, it was time for plan B. Taking the gun out of the holster I hit Luke in the temple with the butt of the gun knocking him unconscious. After repeating the process I did with Kaity to Luke, I dragged him back to the car throwing him in the backseat. I go and grab kaity and put her in the back along side of luke, then hop in the front seat of the car and drive back home.

On the drive back the car filled with the aroma of copper. The drive home was a longer trip than the drive to the campgrounds since it was now night time.

Once I'm home I go into my parents' butcher shop then finish the job with my dead friends and putting the pieces into the freezer. My parents were so nice to leave me with the butcher shop when they died.
