The red streaks swirl around in the still water, it spreads in a fan around my head. The noises from the surface are muffled. But they aren't just noise; it's some one screaming.

Screaming my name.

My eyes begin to flutter shut. My lungs scream for air but my brain doesn't comply, I have no reason to live anyway.

Then I see him. Swimming towards me. His arms outstretched ready to capture me. He pulls me to the surface and I gasp.

Do I even remember how to breathe.

He drags me to shore then lays me down and checks my pulse.

Then he leaves me, but only briefly as in a minute he's back and wrapping something around me.

I open my eyes and he looks at me in deep concern. I crumble my brow in confusion.

His face is familiar but I have never spoken to its owner. "Can you walk", he asks. His voice is smooth and crisp.

I pathetically shake my head. In response he hooks his hands around my knees and lifts me into his arms.

He puts me into his car and turns on the heating. Then he rummages in the back and when He comes and opens the passenger door he wraps a thick bandage around my head and secures it at the front. As he draws away I catch his hand.

I managed to croak out a single word, "why?"

His face becomes hard and emotionless. "I think you know why," he states. But I don't. I've only ever caught his eye in the school.

He climbs in the drivers side and asks if I want him to take me home.

I shake my head. "Do you want to stay at my house?"
"Yes, please," I croak out relieved I don't have to go home and explain I didn't have a sleepover tonight.

He starts up the engine and pulls out.
