Modern Times Book 1: The Start of everything.

Chapter 3: Cruel

"Titan?!!" Zeila exclaimed, surprised at what Yamikishi said, and more of all, those things keep getting many, they are not even running out.

"I told you.... They exist"

"They don-"

"Can you still deny it, after a seeing that?" Yamikishi pointed on a titan, eating a person, it is more like, eating some of their classmates and teacher... It almost caused them to vomit. But Zeila and Yamikishi covered their mouths so they won't be noticed.

"Shhhh" both said in unison, as the three nodded to see that they agreed to be silent. They hid in the middle of a room, they knew that they will not last longer there so Zeila led them to a underground house, where many psople stayed alive for shelter.

"We can be safe here, but we will need to dig deeper and make some walls in this underground house for safety." They are only elementary students but they already need to take responsibilities of life, how cruel.

"This world... Really is cruel... Reality is..."

"Eh-?"

Years have passed, about 5 years, they finished digging, Zeila and the others are already sixteen, but they still need to build the walls, luckily in those years, no titan broke it, nor gone in it.

But one day, they were betrayed by a human that made a hole on the wall. It was only one hole but, humanity lost third of it's population now.

"Why?" A girl said, flustered.

"Why did you do this?!!" Another girl said.

"There is nothing to be gained in doing this!!"

"There is.... Since there is no future... Inside these walls."

"Eh-?" And with that, the betrayer dissapeared in thin air. But even with that, the people who survived must go in the next wall, and 2 years after that, humanity developed 3D maneuver gear and a sword that can kill, or damage a titan. So, humanity made the Military Police which consists of the Survey Corps, Military Corps, and The Garrison.

"Yurikashi, was it really alright to do this?" A 22 year old Yamikishi asked Zeila.

"Yes Dragren, if we did not do this, how can we oppose the bad humans and the titans." A 22 year old Zeila told Yamikishi. "Er-, sorry, wrong call, I mean, How can we oppose this cruel world? Even though at the same time it is beautiful., it prettiness cannot oppose it's cruelness. This is the most cruel world, no, maybe that this place in every place is the cruel one?" She said with a cold smile.

"Yeah, probably"
