POV: Phil
I laid motionless in my bed, wondering why, or what I had done to deserve this cruel life. Sometimes I thought it was karma, but I guess not. It burned, more that ever. What was I hit with? A iron? No... My frail fingers traced over the area of impact, there were little dots in a perfect line. I was hit with a hair brush, not my own, but my mothers. Cold tears slipped down my face and landed on my soft pillow case.
I felt some security here, tucked underneath my duvet. Why could't I just fight back for once, and stop being a coward. I wasn't fighting a monster, well, maybe, but the monster was my mother, and I couldn't harm her, even though she was harming me.
The paleness of my ceiling seemed to fade as I drifted off to sleep, forgetting about everything. I was hoping I would awake to a slight curve in my mattress, with warm arms around me open.. but somehow I knew it wouldn't happen. No one ever came to rescue me from this madness I live in, ever.
POV: Dan
I woke the next morning to see no new messages on my phone that lay on my nightstand beside me. The blinding sun peeked through my blinds as little dust particles float in the air. I finally decided after a few minutes to wake up and get ready, brushing my teeth with a minty paste and running a flat iron over my wavy hair. I threw on my uniform, which was a button up shirt, dress pants and a red tie. The uniforms didn't really bug me at all, we could wear whatever jacket or shoes we wanted. I slipped on my black vans and threw on a gray hoodie, which were the things I usually wore with it. I slipped out the door as I took my usual route to school, walking past a few houses and an apartment complex. The boy that was usually there, Phil, never showed up that day. We usually walked home and to school together. Something was off, and I could tell.
POV: Phil
"Get up!" Someone yelled from outside my door. I rolled over to see my clock read '9:43'. Dammit, I was late. My uniform was sprawled out over my floor as I threw it on piece by piece. I threw on my normal red hoodie and grabbed my bag and pushed out the door. I practically ran to school, but was still late, and I knew I was getting written up for this.
