The Start of the Beginning

Haruka was walking with Makoto and Nagisa to Kyoto to visit a friend of theirs. They had been walking for a few days and it was getting dark. She sighed when they had reached to the border and they ran into some rogue samurai on the way. "Well, well. What are you three lovely young ladies doing at a time like this at night?" said one of the men.

Haruka scoffed. "That's none of your business, we are just simply passing through, so get lost," she replied back and walked on with her sisters right behind her until the second man grabbed hold of her arm.

"Why not stay with us? We'll be very gentle and have fun," he said and Haruka was getting annoyed.

"What part of get lost, do you not understand?" She replies back, shaking off the guy's arm.

They continued to walk until one thing led to another, the rogues got irritated and grabbed her arms again. Haruka sheathed her sword and cut down one of the rogues. He fell to the ground with a groan and laid lifeless. The other two were shocked and anger consumed them. Haruka ordered her sisters to run, which they did as she killed the last two samurais and ran after her sisters. They stopped in the middle of town and caught their breath. Makoto turned to Haruka with an uneasy gaze. "Why did you do that?" She asked.

Haruka sighed. "Well they wouldn't let us go, were they?"

"But you know full well that you didn't have to do that in front of Nagisa! What happens if someone witnessed that and told someone else that three mysterious girls entered Kyoto and all of a sudden killed rogue samurais?" Makoto exclaimed.

"Mako, if they were to do the worst at a time like this, what else were we suppose to do? They were gonna force us to do something which we wouldn't know what they would do to us!" Haruka explained.

They stopped when they heard someone scream from an ally a couple of blocks away. They ran at full speed and saw another girl getting chased by another two samurais. "Where is that brat?!" One of them said and the other looked around.

"He shouldn't be far. Split up and look for him," he ordered and the two split up, but one of them screamed and was killed by furies. The other man shouted. "What the hell? Who are you?!" The furies didn't respond, but laughed in a maniacal way which was frightening. He was killed as well.

The furies walked into the ally where the girl hid and she screamed when the furies raised their swords to kill her. Haruka and the girls dashed forward and killed the furies by beheading the monsters. Makoto kneeled next to the girl and smiled gently. "It's okay, you're safe now," she whispered and the girl calmed herself down, but was still shaken by the events. "What's your name?" She asked to the frightened girl.

"Chizuru Yukimura..." She whispered back.

"Chizuru-chan, my name is Makoto Tachibana and these are my sisters Haruka and Nagisa," Makoto replied back.

At that time, three other samurais who were wearing blue and white coats came in sight and drew their swords at them. One of them had purple hair that was in a low ponytail over his right shoulder and had dark violet eyes, the second had light brown hair with emerald green eyes who had a smirk on his face and the last must have been the older out of the two as he had long black hair, violet eyes and a serious expression on his face. They came closer to the girls and the older one spoke. "If you run after you had witnessed what happened here tonight, we will kill you."

"Eh, Hijikata-san, what should we do to them?" asked Okita-san.

"Will it be best for the four of them to come back to headquarters with us, Vice Commander?" asked Saito-kun.

"Yes, and tie them up. We wouldn't want them to escape after what had happened just now," Hijikata-san replied back.

They were tied up by them and walked to headquarters without a word. Haruka turned to her sisters, they were scared of what would happen to them when they arrived at the headquarters. Nagisa was whimpering because she was afraid of what will happen and that she was in hysterics when they encountered the furies. It was like her nightmares were getting to her more and that was bad enough. When they had arrived, they were sent to a room with Chizuru, still bind with ropes and gagged by the samurais, they didn't know what was gonna come next for them. Haruka and the others were flung into a room, lying on the ground as the samurais closed the doors and walked away.

As time passed, the door opened and everyone came piling in and sat around us. A kind gentleman named Inoue-san offered a small kind smile and started to untie their bounds and removed the gags. Haruka noticed a man behind her and her eyes widened. "Harada?!" She exclaimed and Harada's eyes widened as well.

"Haruka? Makoto? Nagisa? What the hell are you girls doing here?!" He said as he sat in front of the sisters with astonishment.

"We were passing through and thought that we would visit an old friend," Makoto replied back.

"It's been a while Sano-san!" Nagisa giggled.

The Shinsengumi officials were shocked at the scene in front of them. The guys at the back where shouting. "Sano-san you know these girls?!" exclaimed the young boy who was possibly the same age as Chizuru or Nagisa.

"They are old childhood friends of mine from my hometown," replied Harada, who was still surprised at seeing the girls there in front of his eyes.

"How long has it been now?" Haruka asked her friend.

"It's been a while. I can't tell how many years it's been, but why are you here?" He asked in confusion.

"It's a long story that we will talk about when there's time," Haruka replied back.

"How are your parents doing?" He asked, but silence fell among the sisters with sadness.

"They died 3 years ago. They were murdered by some bad people from the same work the Oyaji worked for. So it's been the three of us ever since that incident," Makoto replied with a hint of remorse and grief.

Harada and the others were stunned. "Gomen, I didn't know. You have my condolences," he bowed and Haruka scoffed.

"We don't need your pity, we're doing alright. It's hard, but there's nothing that can bring them back. It's all in the past now," she whispered.

They heard someone cough and everyone turned to the commanders. "Gomen, forgot to introduce ourselves. My name is Haruka Tachibana, it's a pleasure to meet you," Haru bowed.

"I'm Makoto Tachibana, nice to meet you," Mako bowed.

"Nagisa Tachibana, nice to meet you," Nagisa replied also bowing.

"I'm Chizuru Yukimura, nice to meet you," Chizuru bowed and the commanders turned to her.

"Are you a relative to Kodo-san?" asked Sannan-san.

Chizuru perked up and her eyes widened. "You know my father?"

"Wait! You're Kodo-san's daughter?" asked Kondo-san.

"Hai! Do you know where he is?" Chi-chan asked in desperation.

Hijikata-san spoke next. "Unfortunately, we haven't seen nor heard from Kodo-san in the past couple of months. His clinic was engulfed in flames, but his whereabouts is still unknown. We have been looking for him for a while and there is still nothing," he said with his eyes closed. As he opened them, he saw everyone looking at him. "We will continue to find him, but in order to do that someone will look after you for the time being until we find Kodo-san. So either Sannan-san or Kondo-san will look after you."

"Aww, Hijikata-san that's a bit unfair for Kondo-san and Sannan-san. It's your idea, so why don't you look after Yukimura-chan from the time being and let Harada look after the three sisters," replied Okita-kun.

The others agreed and Hijikata-san interjects. "What? Me?" He asked.

"Yeah, it shouldn't be hard on you to look after the girl. Right Kondo-san?" Okita smirks back.

Kondo-san nodded. "That's a good idea. Toshi, it's up to you. Look after Chizuru-chan," everyone got up and left the room, leaving a stunned Hajikata-san with Chizuru in the room. The three sisters followed Harada and decided to have a catch up with him.
