it was a time of war,
with unseeing eyes, mankind fought one another,
rivers ran red with blood,
towers of corpses stood, casting shadows over blood-watered battlefields.
brave soldiers marched to a dark drumming,
on to and even darker end,
commanders sat behind desks, ordering men they never knew,
to fight and die for a cause that was not even true.
how did it start? well, how does any war start,
A rivalry betwixt princes, a bitter slur, royal families broken by greed.
it never ends, the death and destruction,
people sit and whine about the destruction, yet none move to prevent more.
when will it all end?
well, I guess there really is no end.
the darkness that sparks such abominations is imprisoned in all of us,
waiting, watching, laughing at every slip, every folly,
some just haven't let it out yet, haven't let it wreak the havoc it has the potential to.
but with the ones who have, they finally got what they wanted,
and sounded the victory bell....
but, what they really were doing...was sealing their fate in hell.
