----After Mom Came Home----
I limped to the car, dad holding me up with all his might, I was heavier than a normal kid but I didn't care.. He carefully lied me down on the car seat. I was 4 at the time. I had blonde, wavy hair that shimmered in the sunlight. I had baby blue eyes that had perfect sight.
----After We Got There and Had Tests----
"Ronnie?" the doctor said. "may I speak with you quickly?"
"Yes, of course" dad replied.
They walked out but I could hear them speaking from the position I was at.
"What is wrong?" my dad said, sounding worried.
"She-" the doctor hesitated. "She has cancer. She must go to a hospital in Canada. They will treat her well."
"What are we going to tell her?" dad replied sadly.
"Just tell her you are going on vacation." the doctor replied. "All kids believe that statement when they hear it."
They walk back in, side glancing at each other.
"Sweety-" he tried to say.
"Daddy," I interrupted. "what is cancer?"
They look at each other. "If you answer a question correctly, I will tell you."
"What is it? What is it?" I begged my dad.
"What is 5+5?"
I hesitated, "Um... 10?" I replied, unsure of it.
My dad's eyes widened, "you are a smart kid... Cancer is another word for vacation!"
I squealed and kicked my feet, a tsunami of pain rushed through my leg. It was time to go.
