Day 2- Cuddling Somewhere

~Lalna's Pov~
I sigh and shuffle into the living room. Removing my lab coat and all my protective gear, leaving only my purple t-shirt, black pants, and goggles on. I've been up for days now trying to create a creature known as the Luggage, but I can't seem to figure out how exactly. I have had basically no sleep, I hardly ever do recently. There's just too much that could be accomplished, it keeps me awake.

I flop down on the couch, my mind a bit hazy with all the projects, math, and numbers floating around my head. Ugggh. I just need to mellow out, watch some mindless telly before maybe getting some much needed rest. I flip on the tv, something simple, but don't ask me what channel cause I just mashed the buttons on the remote until something good came on.

I enjoyed five minutes of silence, five minutes of peace. Until a heard a little voice. "Lalna, are you still awake?" My young apprentice, and friend, asks sneaking into the room. "Yeah, what's up?" I say turning my head towards her. She looked shaken up, also a bit different some how since I last saw her, but I couldn't figure out what it was.

"I had another nightmare about Mother..." Mother? That sounded oddly familiar in a way, but I could only assume she meant her mum. "Oh, will you be alright?" I asked, concerned. "No.. Lalna, s-she tried t-to take me a-away from you.. She just k-kept s-s-screaming at me." She whimpered barely audible. Her eyes glassed over and wet tears drip down her face.

"Well come on then, you can hang out with me for a while." I say. She smiles a bit and takes a seat next to me on the couch. She sniffs more, playing with something small in her hands. Something still seems different about her, I just can't put my finger on it. It pisses me off, but digress. My attention turns back to her.

She still whimpers, she is still very upset. I have to make her feel better some how.. That's it. "Hey Nano?" She looks up at me. "Here." I hold out my googles. "Your g-goggles?" I nod. "They always make me feel better." She takes them, placing them on her head. She giggles slightly, progress.

We sit and watch tv for while longer before she speaks up again. "Can.. Can I hold your hand?" I nod. "Sure why not?" "Do you want your glove then?" "Gloves? What, you worried I might get your cooties? It's fine." "But Lalna-" "It's fine, really." She moves her hand towards mine slowly, but I just grab her hand and intertwine our fingers. She squeezes my hand. "I love you, Lalna." She whispers. "I love you too, Nano." She rests her head on my shoulder and cuddles in next to me.

I loved this moment, I feel like it's been forever since I just chilled out with Kim on the couch. Just sitting back, relaxing. I make a quick mental note to myself, make more time to take a break, to just hang out with my girlfriend. It feels amazing. Blink my eyes closed, falling into my rest.

I wake up to the smell of something sweet. Ahh Nano must be making something. I stand up and stretch, not exactly remembering what's happened within the last 24 hours, it's all very fuzzy. I walk into the kitchen. "Good morning love." Nano says coming up to me with a mug. "Here sit." She pulls a chair out and sets my mug down. "What's got you in such a mood?"

She giggles. "Your goggles I suppose." She says setting them down on the table. "Thanks for letting me borrow them." "No problem, I almost forgot you had them." I place the goggles back onto my head. She gasps. "What? What is it?" "Oh my god, Lalna I am so so sorry." "What happened?" She stays silent.

"Nano, tell me what happened.." "Lal, look at your hands.."

I hold my hands up.

Purple.

The flux.

It's on me.

It's got me.

"Lal, I'm so sorry. I never meant to harm you." Maybe she experienced something different, because I felt a power surge though me. A smile instantly appearing on my face. I pull Nano close and kiss her. "I've waited so long to do that, and now I don't have a reason not to. We will find a cure, together this time."

I kissed her again and she kissed back. I felt a sense of joy I never experienced before. I had Kim.

And we, we're happy.
