Third Person POV
The day before Halloween. A Friday. A time of celebration and also where some obnoxious classmate with start yelling out the Rebecca Black song that almost nobody likes anymore. The air is crisp and nearly every house is stocked up on candy and is decorated.
Cole's house was invaded with fake spiderwebs and creepy dolls of old men. He also had a baby head that started giggling when someone walked by. His costume was Finn, a character from one of his all-time favourite shows.
His boyfriend had went for the same idea in decoration but had went in a separate direction. Fake blood, discarded dolls from his sisters' childhood, a broken record player that you could only hear crackling and every now and again the music in static that would set to play to old creepy rock music and smashed pumpkins. His costume was more in the sci-fi direction as he dressed up as The Doctor.
Will's house went less into the creepy side of Halloween into the fun and childhood type. Happy pumpkins on the stairs, window stickers of cartoon ghosts and monsters. After all, there were little kids going to his house. His Pikachu onesie and black face makeup would serve nicely as a quick and easy costume.
David's family had done something pretty different. Halloween music was played throughout the house, yes. But he also had pumpkins lining the walkway to his stairs. It wasn't just the regular faces either. There were detailed carvings of night skies with a witch in the background, a crazy good carving of a picture of he and the rest of the boys and many more. He would be going as Spiderman, not in his regular costume of course, a store-bought one.
Dana's house was playing Halloween music as well but that's because every year his family has a big party but it doesn't include kids ages eighteen below. He didn't want to go anyways though, it was just a bunch of adults complaining about their lives. I mean, have you even tried being kidnapped? It's not nice. So Dana doesn't want to hear it. He was going as the Beast since Angela was going as Tiana but he couldn't pull of the frog look. Plus he had a lion hat that would serve it's purpose well.
Lastly, Gabe's apartment was practically bare. A large sticker that said 'Happy Halloween' on it was taped to the door and that was it. At least he bought candy and was dressing up. Sure, he was going as Batman and that was probably the lazy choice but he was an adult now. Also, he forgot it was Halloween so it was the bet he could do on such short notice.
The boys would be going to a party though. Namely, Kitty's party. Honestly, Angela and Dana made them all go. The two male couples just wanted to hand out candy and watch movies together on the couch. Halloween movies of course. The Nightmare Before Christmas, Halloweentown, the cliché classic ones. Gabe was planning on just handing out candy and staying home alone. But both those plans went down the drain. Girls are very persuasive.
"It'll be fun!" Dana said when the five other boys groaned but accepted the offer.
"Yeah, sure, just keep telling yourself that. Halloweentown is way better than some party." Cole scoffed
"Babe, it's ok, we'll just stay in one corner away from the spiked punch." Dalton said
"Spiked? What's that mean?" Will asked, he wasn't paying attention earlier
"It's- just stay away from the punch Will." David sighed
"What if I'm thirsty?" The boy asked
"I'll bring you some juice, sweets." David said, ruffling his hair.
"Why are you two so cute? That's not okay. It's Halloween, scary, not cute." Gabe said
"When is Will ever going to be scary? He's too adorable to be scary. He's going as freaking Pikachu for Halloween." Alex laughed
"That's true." Dalton nodded in agreement. "They were in the top two cutest couples in last year's yearbook. And they had only been dating for a couple months."
"Yeah, but Dana and I got first." Angela pointed out
"I bet it was because of the homophobic students." Gabe whispered under his breath
"What was that Gabriel?" Angela glared.
"Nothing, nothing." Gabe waved it off.
"Yeah sure." Angela scoffed. To which Dana made a motion to Gabe to cut it out without Angela seeing it.
"Can we talk about something else, everyone was staring at the two of us when that happened and it made me super uncomfortable." Will said, becoming red.
"Ouch! Will!" David took his arm off of his boyfriend and started blowing on the burn.
"Sorry, sorry. That's been happening a lot lately." Will sighed.
"It's okay, it hasn't even been a year since you guys have gotten powers so I guess that's normal." Alex said, patting Will's back lightly.
"So you guys are coming?" Angela asked
"Yes." The five boys who didn't want to go said loudly.
"Ok, geez I just want to know because I have to tell Kitty." Angela put her arms up and left the room.
Then Dana's phone rang.
"Hi?"
"Dana? It's Boonquisha calling for Todrick. Y'all have to come here now. Something's happened that might need some superheroes." Boonquisha said
"Uh, what? Can't you just tell me over the phone?" Dana asked
"Honey, no! Just get Dalton to carry each of y'all."
"Well, will it need immediate attention?"
"No, but ok fine. Y'all have to be ready for Halloween. Something might happen, and it'll be way scarier than whatever y'all are going as."
"Ok, we'll keep our eyes open but we're going to a party tomorrow."
"Alright honey."
Then Boonquisha hung up.
"Who was-" Dalton was in the middle of asking a question when his phone rang as well.
"Hey! Dal! Guess what?! Tomorrow I'm going to find out the identities of IM5!" Knoche shrieked excitedly in his ear
"What? How do you know that?" Dalton asked
"I got a tip that something will be happening tomorrow at Kitty's party. I was just wondering if you and your friends would like to help with the party?" Knoche asked
"Uh, hold on, I'll put you on speaker, tell them then." Dalton did as he said he would be and Knoche repeated his question.
"No, I'm good bro." Dana said, Gabe agreeing with him.
"I can take pictures." David said
"I could DJ." Cole volunteered
"I'll bring food." Will said
"Ok thanks guys." Knoche thanked. "See you all tomorrow!"
As soon as Knoche hung up everyone had a weird expression on their face except the girls. Gabe was the first to speak up.
"We have quite the day tomorrow." He said, to which everyone nodded.
