Maze High School

The sign read as I entered the school lazily.

Mondays sure weren't my days.

Usually, I wasn't late to school. But today, I had woken up late and tried to get out of school altogether, playing the "i don't feel well!" card. Unfortunately, my mom knows when i'm lying. Now, here I am at this hell-of-a-school.

I made my way to my locker, dumping my bag in it and grabbing my journal and textbook for second hour- the class we were in the middle of.

The hallways were empty considering second hour was halfway over. Maybe I should ditch and just show up for third hour? I despise being late, because of all the attention when you walk into class. You know what I'm talking about. Everyone looks at you, some not even realizing that you weren't there.

"C'mon!" I hear a whisper coming from around the corner of the hallway my locker's in.

When I heard it, I knew exactly who it belonged to.

Axel Luckett, the schools intimidation.

Axel was a gang leader, piercings and a few tattoos made him.

I watched; still bored as the whole gang began running towards one of the exits of the school, directly across from my locker, laughing almost mischievously

But right when Axel reached me, he noticed I was watching.

"Don't you have somewhere to be?" He spat, the whole gang now crowding me.

my face went hot as i realized i was watching them like some sort of entertainment. jesus, i need to learn to mind my own business.

"I- it's... it's" i humiliatingly stutter. taking a deep breath, i try again, having a more forward approach. "don't you?"

He rolled his eyes, not impressed by my attempt to seem like they didn't phase me.

"What's your name?"

why do you care? go spray paint the lobby or something.

"Why should I tell you?"

A few of his gang- friends snickered, but they were just background noise considering I couldn't focus on anything but the stare down Axel and I were having.

"Because I'm Axel Luckett" He snorted as if I were stupid.

I scoffed, rolling my eyes. "Asshole"

"What was that?"

I quickly checked the clock, and realized there was only a few minutes left of class.

"I said I'm Flynn" I grinned widely, watching the expressions on their faces switch quickly to confusion.

"Oh, that's right, Flynn Callister" A dude from behind Axel recognized.

I rolled my eyes and began to walk away, when Axel stopped me, his hands on the lockers on either side of me. he was towering over my small frame and making me feel helpless. i cower back against the locker as his piercing eyes bore into mine.

"I'll see you, Flynn" He added, before letting me walk away clueless of what just happened.
