My eyes shot open.

"What the hell?" I questioned.

It had to be like 29 degrees in this stupid room and I was not appreciating it. I threw my blanket off my icy body and my bare feet hit the frozen tile of the apartment. With a shudder, I walked to the thermostat "56 degrees" it read.
"What in the.. I have to get this fixed. MOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!" I screamed.
My frail arms ripped the bedroom door open and my feet pounded the floor as I ran to to the end of the hallway. I reached the steps and practically flew down them in record timing with nothing but a mean look etched in my face. Finally, there she was. Drinking coffee in her night gown reading Daily Digest. Not a care in the world.

"Are you trying to freeze me mother?" I said between gritted teeth.

"What?" She asked, not looking up from her magazine.

"For the THIRD day in a row I've woken up in my bed feeling like I just woke up in the middle of the Arctic! I would appreciate it if you didn't turn the thermostat down to bloody 54 degrees while I sleep! This isn't funny mother. I'm going to die!" I retorted harshly.

Her thick glasses sat on the bridge of her nose and her bony hands grasped tightly to the paper "Oh whatever, the benefits of cold air on the human body are fantastic honey! Cold surroundings help improve the immune system and speed up the metabolism--"

"Yeah, yeah. I know.. your health is the reason I SLOWLY FREEZE YOU IN YOUR SLEEP!" I mocked, "Mom I can't do this, 2 months and I go to England for college! 2 months and I'm free from this arctic circle hell." I screamed.

"Honey that doesn't make sense." She proceeded.

I ignored her reply and walked to the kitchen counter with a smug look on my face. There was a carton of orange juice and a crumbly muffin left on a plate. I was fresh out of bed, but I was hungry, so I savored every last bit of that muffin before walking to the bathroom to shower and get dressed. I have a big day ahead of me I thought as I walked up the last step and arrived back in the upstairs hallway. My eyes rolled back in my head with frustration immediately. I sighed loudly as I walked back into my "igloo" of a bedroom.
