Scarlet woke up in an unfamiliar place. Her uncle, sat above her, tears running down his hollow cheeks. You could see the starvation affecting him, as badly as it was her.
"Uncle?" She smiled then frowned in confusion. "Where am I?"
A slightly familiar deep voice answered her question."The castle, prince's quarters."
She sat up, shocked.
"What the... why..oh my..." A million questions filled her brain. Deciding on the most important, she sighed. "Uncle, you're okay! I was so worried... I" She stopped and stared into her uncle's eyes. Everything came back to her, and the same dread that filled her before came rushing back.
"It's okay." He whispered in her ear, "I forgive you."
She relaxed.
"There are more important things, however." He gestured around the room. "Scarlet, meet Xavier. Xavier, this is my niece, Scarlet."
Scarlet looked around and realized she was in a bed. It was intricately designed and must have cost a fortune. It must be true, She thought. I am in the castle.
Her eyes flickered around the room as she took in the delicately designed furniture. Two boys, about her age, stood around the bed looking worried. The one by the name of Xavier raised his hand as a greeting, the other followed his example.
Xavier... she thought. I have heard that name before! Then it came to her. She swung her legs over the side of the bed and tried to stand.
"Stop." the three held her down.
Xavier, the prince smiled at her. "You need food, rest."
"But-" Scarlet stuttered, "You're Xavier-Oh my gosh-Why?..."
"We know you have a ton of questions," the boy next to Xavier stated, sounding almost bored. " We will answer them. But now is not the time."
Xavier gestured to the boy whom had spoken. "This is Andy. He can be annoying but he is useful at times!" He elbowed Andy. Andy kicked him with the side of his foot then smiled at Scarlet.
Just then, the price's eyes rolled to the top of his head. He fell to the ground.
Andy ran over to Xavier. "The next person to pass put is gonna be on their own!" He threatened, but Scarlet got the feeling that Andy would help anyone where were to pass out.
"Blair grab me some water." He gestured to a water picture near the tub. The girl's uncle obediently hurried and brought the water to Andy.
Andy took the water and unceremoniously dumped it on Xavier's head.
Xavier sputtered back to reality.
"Hey!" He screamed "What the- oh crap, it's bleeding again."
Andy threw a bandage at the injured boy, who then wrapped it tightly around his bleeding arm. He felt a trickle of blood run down his lip and realized that his nose was bleeding again.
"Dang it," he cursed. "Again?!"
"What happened?" Scarlet questioned
They all responded in unison with different answers.
"My Dad," Xavier stated.
"Xavier was an idiot," Andy said.
"He saved me," Her uncle whispered and said again "this is all my fault."
"Don't worry about me!" Xavier responded, addressing Blair.
Scarlets stomach grumbled. She felt as if she was going to puke, but realized that was impossible due to the lack of food in her body.
