prologue
Okay, so for those of you who follow me you will notice that all of my stories are gone. I am deciding to start over, but I will be redoing the ones I have done, so they will come back but they will be better and I will do my best to stick to the original plots. I just want my writing to be something better for you all. So for now, take this new story :) thank you all for your support. I have had a rough summer, but things are going to be much better and I am finally able to get back to what I love most, writing. Your votes and comments would be greatly appreciated.
Calum sits on the couch, typing away at his phone, not saying a word. His brow is furrowed a bit and his face is a sad, almost sunken in version of his normal self. He scrolls down to check his notifications but once again, nothing. He should know better. The last text he received from her came early in the morning (long before he would wake up) to say thank you, to say goodbye, and more importantly... to say he'd never hear from her again.
"Dude," Ashton sits down next to him and places a hand on is shoulder, "It's been three months."
"Funny, it only feels like years." He rolls his eyes and stands up.
"Why don't you talk about it with us?"
"Because I don't want to talk about it, Mate." He sighs and pulls out his wallet, "I'll talk when I'm ready to."
Inside his wallet he pulls out an old postcard, at least a year old. The postcard has been folded in half twice, and the lines are beginning to tear away at the color after being opened and closed time and time again. He's opened at least ten times a day since the last text. The colors, once bright and vibrant, are now dull tints of orange, red, and blue. He looks at the front only briefly before turning it over and reading the small message written on the back.
"Cal,
I hope you come home soon. San Francisco misses you. I miss you more.
Xoxo,
Haley."
