Long ago, far too long for anyone to actually care, Hecate gifted a few mortals with magic. She was tired of demigods having their fates thrust upon them and so decided to give mortals powers so they could carve their own fates in hopes that they might one day be able to help demigods live peaceful lives.
Hecate however, soon forgot about these mortals with powers as they too forgot about the Godess and how they received these powers; they continued to grow in population. These mortals noticed they were different and called themselves wizards and witches; they also had the occasional crossing with other gods, one of them being Thanatos.
Thanatos the God of death gifted three of these wizards for their 'skills' on escaping death by using magic to create a bridge over a bottomless pit. He created the elder wand, the reserection stone and the invisability cloak, but there was no escaping death and so he said he would come back for them and he did. However when Thanatos collected the three wizards souls he did not think of taking back his gifts.
The three gifts were passed down and eventually lost thought to be destroyed. Hades had decided that they could keep them until there was a war in which hades thought that it would be unjust if people died but then could be brought back to life, or could turn invisible and have a powerful wand as well.
Many years later and a war started brewing in the wizarding world against a powerful dark wizard and his followers. It was at this time that Hades decided to interfere. He was sending a demigod, the best of the best, to retrieve the items given by Thanatos. He was sending Percy Jackson.
