Chapter Six

“So…what’s that job then?” I ask trying to rid the air of awkward tension.

He smiles and pulls himself up off the ground.

“Don’t actually know that one yet.  He’s still Mulling over it, said he wanted you to come to dinner tonight though.” I get a sick feeling in my stomach when he says this. It’s hard to believe that Dee has forgiven me for questioning him, and then running to his son. He probably thinks i just used Lian to get my way.

“Oh god… I shouldn’t have told you anything I should have let you find out on your own. Now he’ll think I ran to you after I couldn’t get my way!” I say with a groan and a hand to my forehead in frustration.

He sighs and shakes his head at me. “See this is why we should have gone together! Now you look like a tattle tale, and I look like the idiot whose being fooled into a pretty girls bidding.” He says.

I sigh at him. “I get it, we should have gone together, I have apologized can we move on?” I ask feeling myself again.

He laughs and gives me a mischievous little glance. “Nope, the wounds are too fresh! I’m not ready to heal yet!” he jokes loudly and dramatically. I laugh wildly at him and punch him in the arm.

“You’re ridiculous you know that right?” I ask him as he stands to his feet.

“Yes, but that’s why you love me so much!” he says with a wink holding out a hand to help me up.

I look at his face with the sun glinted off of his handsome features and smile, How could things have gone from so bleak to so perfect so quickly?

I wind my fingers around his own and allow him to lift me off the ground. Holding on to his hand as we walk back, cherishing yet again my moment with my favorite person in the world.

And as we walk I think of what Dee had said. About me and Lian. How he’d been watching us and he thought that I wanted to marry him…

But that causes too much confusion and conflict within my heart so I shut it out and concentrate on the peace of the moment!
