Lost Words Burn Forever

Hyung Soo was sitting at his desk doing his assigned work. He hadn't thought it would take him this long as he continues to work deep into the night. He yawns and glances at the clock, 14:37, it read, the seconds counting down. Shuffling the papers into a stack be stands up and heads to his room. He untied his braid and gets changed into his pyjamas, crawling into bed and falling asleep. Suddenly a flame engulfs him, his physical body fading. A laughter can be heard, sinister yet childish at the same time. He screams as pain courses through him, burns covering his whole body. "S-South...?! Why w-would you d-do this?" He manages to choke out, looking over at his twin holding a lighter. "America told me it was a good idea, you're stupid any ways. There's no reason for the country to be split anymore." Yong Soo grins evilly at the Northern Korea. Tears form in Hyungs eyes but evaporate almost instantly through the intense heat. He fades away, only left a memory. Jolting upright he is awoken from his dreams, at him layer of perspiration coating his skin. He breathes heavily, anxiously checking himself for anything that may seem out of the ordinary. Determining everything to be in check he gets up and dresses himself in his standard military outfit, redoing his long braid. He goes to the kitchen and grabs a light breakfast, grabbing the papers and walking out. He finishes his breakfast and walks towards the main government building, a few blocks away. He looks around at the skyscrapers that inhabit his capital city of Pyongyang. It wasn't always like this, he remembered those days when his brother and him were United, North and South sharing the same capital. Now Seoul belonged to Yong Soo, his own heart now in a different city. He walked into his bosses building, walking into his office. He sets the paperwork on his desk and stands there, "I finished the work you asked me to do." His boss picks up the paperwork and shuffles through it, examining the work for several minutes, "Good, thank you" he sets the papers down, "You are free to do whatever you wish for now." Hung nods and thanks his boss, turning and walking out of the room. He walks back to his house and locks his door, going to his dance room. He loved to dance, ballet to be more specific, it was a secret passion of his. He turns on the music and closes his eyes, assimilating himself with the beat. He starts to glide across the room, leaping and twirling in time with the song. He was always so graceful when he lost himself, something that contrasted greatly with his country. He made sure to hide the beauty from everyone, for such a thing could be used against him and he refused to show any form of weakness. Only his brother knew, but living as one for so many centuries it was difficult to hide anything. He is startled out of his trance by the loud ringing of his phone. He picks it up off its spot on the floor and answers it. "Sir, South Korea is trying to invade our country." Hyung stops, paralysed in shock, "m-my..brother..?" He was completely baffled, he hadn't seen him directly since the end of their war, he thought he gave up but he was wrong, "I'll be right there" he says, hanging up the phone and heading out quickly. He arrives to the sight of Yong Soo being detained by an officer, desperately trying to free himself, "Let me see Hyung Soo!" His eyes were shut tight as he thrashed around screaming. "South" Hyung said, signalling for the officer to let him go, "I told you to refer to me as North, not my human name." His brother latches onto him, pulling him into a hug, "I'm sorry, I forgot" he smiles and nuzzles his brother, taking in his long forgotten scent. Hyung tried to push him off but he had an iron grip on his twin. "Why are you even here?" He looked down, annoyed at his brother. "Well, I missed you so much" Yong pokes his brothers cheek. He swats his hand away, "You're not supposed to be here, leave immediately." "Aww, but cmon" he whined, gripping him tighter. "If you don't leave there will be consequences." "I don't care, I'm not leaving." Hyung sighed, "fine then" he looks at the officer, "Call the boss, ask him what we should do." "Of course sir, right away." The officer says, pulling out his phone and walking away. He returns a short while later, "Take him directly to the boss" "thank you" Hyung says, taking his brother and walking off. He walks into his bosses office, his brother still welded to his arm. "Explain yourself immediately" his boss demanded, his eyes lit up with rage. South hid behind North, scared by the forcefulness of his boss, "I-I wanted to see my brother....I missed him" "That doesn't mean you break in, this us completely unacceptable behaviour!" "Sir, please calm down. He is just upset." Hyung says, trying to extinguish the flame. "P-please, it's been hard not seeing him for so many years." "I don't care, there will be no mercy. Not even my own family is exempt from the law. I am completely fed up with you, there is no reason for there to be two of you if you're only going to act up." "Sir, are you telling me too..?" He is cut off by his boss, "Yes, end him and reunite the country. Make him suffer, show him no feelings of remorse" South tears up and looks back at his brother, "You're n-not going to do t-that...are you North?" A few tears escape his eyes and roll down his cheeks. "I wish, but I have no choice, I must follow all orders" "b-but please... Don't be like Vietnam, you see how she is. Do you really want to be like her?" South asks, desperately trying to persuade his brother, tears streaming down his face. "There is nothing to change. I have made my decision, take him out outside and kill him with your sword." "Y-yes sir" North says, choking back tears as he turns and walks out with his brother. He takes him outside and ties up his limbs, pulling out his blade. "I-I'll miss you North, take care of the country." He looks down, tears dripping off his face, dampening the concrete beneath him. North raises the sword behind his head, bringing it down quickly as it cuts through his brother. South screams in pain as he is struck, blood splattering as its removed from him. He brings it back down, slicing straight across his chest. South collapses, his body falling limp as his blood drains out of him, his body starting to dissolve. North starts to feel a buzz course through him, the same one he felt when they split, the country becoming one again. "I promise I will"
