"Attention all passengers, the flight time of New York to Tokyo is approximately 9 hours and 30 minutes. Until then please go to your designated seat and make sure that your seatbelt is securely fastened when the airplane is in flight. Thank you for choosing FastFly and may we have a good time."
Finally, with all the ruckus that happened in New York. I'm now fully eligible to go to the next level of high school, and that is 2nd year. I'm Ryouta, a 16 year old boy who enjoys studying most of the time. A boring guy to be exact and precise. My physique is that of a tall man, kinda 5'8 or something like that. I never knew actually but I feel it though, haha.
Tokyo... My real home. I'm back, Rin. In my heart I missed her, I truly did. When I was 8 it was truly sudden for us to go to New York because of some family problems and I never got the chance to say goodbye. Due to vigorous minutes of studying and focus, I didn't have physical or landline contact with Rin anymore.
"Ryouta, shape up all right?" Mom warned me. She was a little strict now, because of father's death. He was run over by a car. I can't imagine dad dying like that, he was like a revolutionary hero to me. I'll never forget that old man's smile and the necklace he gave me. I felt good and bad at the same time. One, I passed the exams at New York as a first year then second, mom changed. Actually a lot, she has been serious at the work she's given, she no longer has that cat face I once knew and loved. Life is such a challenge.
I nodded in response. I turned my mobile phone into silent mode and played some strategy games. I also forgot to mention that.....
I'm afraid of heights.
(After the flight)
Rain struck Tokyo and flooded some parts, we sheltered ourselves at the big rectangular roof the airport owned. Mom waved his hand to only catch a yellow taxi. Luckily, he caught a glimpse of us in the cold rain. It was a flood here!
The taxi driver went closer to us as fast as he could. Whenever he accelerated, the waves would get bigger. The taxi stopped by us and we managed to get inside without soaked feet.
"Where to Maam?" He said sternly.
"Gurachi."
"Will do Maam." And with that, he drove silently while listening to some tunes.
I hope Rin accepts me again. What if she already forgot about me and ventured off to another country? I can't take that. I'm finally here and if I have that result, what will I do here? I'll get another Ryouta Fanclub like in New York. Seriously?
We got off the taxi and paid the man, he counted his money and journeyed off to another victim. I'm talking like some evil man now. The neighborhood was the same as I thought it'd be. Quiet, calm, and peaceful even with the rain going on about.
Mom took out an umbrella from her pink Jansport bag and guided me to safety until we're inside the house that made my journey a fun ride. Oh how much I've missed that broken TV in the closet! I unlaced my shoes and walked upstairs. For some strange reason, I don't feel like the kid that was adventurous anymore. If I can recall, I repeatedly dash downstairs or upstairs. What can I say? A kid is too energized and can never be easily tired.
A flashback hit me in my noggin. I saw my past self run downstairs and open the front door. What the hell?! I can see ghosts now?! Hell no! However its nostalgic to remember that childish memory. A smile formed in my lips, is this magic now? Mom caught me staring at the front door for minutes. Worst, she saw me smiling at nothing. Not a crazy man, just felt nostalgic.
"Ryouta, stop smiling by yourself and help out here." She said. Well that was cold like the rain. Meh, I'm used to this kind of behavior at school. So I nodded straight away and helped mom with the unpacking in the living room. Strange, I opened the bag like a box.
