Alexandria:

Hi, my name is Alexandria Duress, but you can call me Alex. I'm a 17 year old girl, still, unfortunately, in high school. I live in New Orleans, and go to a public school. I normally try to stay in the shadows, even if my friends don't want me to. My day started well enough, I was at my locker, getting my stuff for my next class when I heard a voice.

"Hey Alex!" A smile creeps onto my face as I hear the voice of my best friend Josh.

"What Josh!" I answer as I turn to face him.

"You coming to the Halloween party tonight at Jason's?"

"Maybe, it depends on what time I get off, what times the party?"

"9 o'clock, I'm going to go as a cowboy."

"Wow Josh, at least I was gonna go as an assassin or something."

"I couldn't think of anything that fits my personality, I come from Texas for Christ Sake!"

I laugh a little. You see, Josh came to New Orleans after his sister was killed in a drive-by shooting, caught a stray bullet to the coronary artery. He's normally the energetic one of the bunch, he says he acts this way so that he doesn't think about it for too long.

"I'll do my best to make it, but no promises!" I say.

"Something is better than nothing!" He replies.

"True, true."

"I will see you later then."

"Ok Josh, see you later"

I close my locker and go on to my next class. Anatomy. Lovely, notice my sarcasm. I really don't see the point of today's class. We are each getting an X-ray taken so that we can study each others bones.

"Alright everyone, you guys ready?" My teacher, Mrs. Lacardo, asks.

"Yes." We all say at once, creepy.

"Alright, Ms. Duress, would you like to go first?"

"I guess." I reply.

"Step on up then."

I go up to the front of the room, where the machine is. When the picture is printed, she hangs it up on the light board and frowns.

"Ms. Duress, you have quite an unusual structure, you have 5 more bones than you should have, near each of you shoulder blades, see?"

I look at the picture and see shes right, but why though? I've never had to get an X-ray before so she thought she would have a structure like the book showed.

"Why would these be there?" I ask her.

"I don't know, I've never seen anything like it before." She replies.

"It doesn't limit my movement, is there a problem with them being there?"

"Not that I can see, but I think you might want to see a doctor, just to be sure it won't cause problems in the future."

"I'll talk to my mom about setting me an appointment while I'm at work."

"Ok dear." She turns to look at the class. "Alright, who's next?"

I stopped listening after that though. Why would I have more bones than a normal person, especially near my shoulder blades?

So what do you think guys, I thought I would give you guys something different. Please give me feedback, it definitely helps.
