"Okay mom, I'm leaving to go to my job interview," I yelled, running towards the door but before I could run out of the door my mom grabbed me by the back of my shirt.
“Where do you think you're going," she said in a motherly tone.
"To my job interview," I said quickly.
"And let me guess, you didn't eat your breakfast," she said in a disapproving tone. I gave her a look of disbelief.
"Mom, I cannot be late for this interview," I said, trying to escape.
"Knowing you, you're probably going an hour early and trying not to eat breakfast again. Now march into the kitchen and eat the eggs and beans that I cooked for you," she demanded.
I rolled my eyes. I knew that it was pointless to argue. My mom was one of those people who are really big on breakfast, the ones who always remind you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Unlike me, I could give two cents about breakfast.
I quickly scarfed down the eggs and beans, feeling very lucky about the fact that it was not scorching hot, then chugged down some water.
“Okay! I’m done, and now I’m leaving,” I said, making my way- once again- to the door. My mom quickly squeezed in a hug and then let me go.
“Okay sweetie. Have a good day! Knock em’ dead,” she quickly told me, trying to get the words out before I disappeared completely. I gave a quick wave and then sped walked my way to Bebe’s Coffee Shop.
*~*~*~*
The smell of coffee was in the air and I could tell that today was going to be a great day, well at least a girl can hope, right? I had an appointment for a job at Bebe's Coffee Shop, one of the best coffee shops in Los Angeles – in my opinion- and I could not wait. I have wanted this job for a while and all I could do was sit patiently -or as patiently as I could be- while I waited for my name to be called. My right leg was bouncing up and down as I sipped my coffee, and as you can tell I was a bit nervous... well really nervous.
I wrapped my hands around the sleeve of my coffee cup when a cockroach crawled on to my hand. Now, I have to say that I absolutely do not like bugs, especially cockroaches, so it should be no surprise when I say that I threw my coffee in the air and shrieked like a little girl. At the moment I didn't really think about where my coffee would land but when I turned around I had a feeling that it did not land on the floor... or the garbage.
I was a little surprised when I turned around to see a man in a white, expensive-looking suit covered in brown stains. Well okay, so it wasn't surprise that my coffee landed on somebody but I didn't think a rich guy like him would be in a coffee shop like this. People like him usually just go to Starbucks, but of course it would be my luck to spill coffee on a rich guy, who could sue the snot out of me (now that is not a pretty image). Of course I thought my luck might have gotten better when I saw that the man was actually a boy who was my age.
He had chocolate brown hair and light blue eyes, and the white suit was actually a uniform to one of the most elite (and not to mention expensive) schools in California. It was called Hillcrest Boarding School for the privileged, basically it was a boarding school for rich, snotty kids, located near Santa Monica Beach so that those rich, snotty kids could waste their time. But going back to the boy, I could tell that he was mad and, of course (never dealing with rich, kids), I could only cover my mouth and gasp in shock. I grabbed napkins and willed for the brown stains to go away, but it didn't work. All I could say was sorry, but he still didn't respond.
