The Dream

Dipper trudged through the dark forest. His eyes flickered around, taking in his almost never-ending surroundings. It was quiet. Too quiet. Suddenly a cool breeze came over Dipper, as if someone or something flew over him. He looked around, panting slightly. He saw nothing. He continued his journey through the woods when he heard a laugh...a familiar one. He stopped in his tracks, practically shaking in fear. "Wh-who's there?" he called out, his voice trembling. No response. Dipper sighed shakily and crossed his arms over his stomach as he continued to walk.

Bill Cipher, the demon that Dipper had heard give that strangely familiar laugh, was now behind a tree, behind Dipper and out of his sight. He floated behind the tree as though he was waiting for someone.

Suddenly, a purple square-shaped demon appeared next to Bill. He was wearing a top hat similar to Bill's, only it was rounded on the top. "I've got a plan for his dream tonight, Cipher." the demon said. If he had a mouth, he would be smirking right now.

Bill crossed his thin black arms. "Which is?" he asked.

"You'll see." the other demon replied. He snapped his fingers and was gone in a flash.

Bill began to float away when he heard a scream. He could tell it was a boy's scream, although it did sound almost girl-like. He stopped and turned, facing the direction in which the scream came from. A bright flash then ignited the trees, flames filling the area. Bill floated above the trees and looked down at the scene. He saw Dipper in the middle of a circle of flames, the flames slowly closing in on the boy.

Dipper frantically looked around, his breathing heavy. He knew there was no escape. This was it.

Bill started feeling bad, knowing he was the cause of this. If he hadn't hired his demon buddies to torture the Pines twins in their dreams, Dipper wouldn't be going through this pain. Wait, why was he feeling like this? Was he really feeling guilty? No, he can't be. Was he really developing feelings for this kid?

Dipper bit his lip, the flames only a few feet away from him now. He let out another scream, panting and shaking in fear.

Bill blinked and waved his hands, causing the flames to retreat and soon extinguish.

Dipper fell to his knees on the ground. He closed his eyes, his breathing uneven.

The other purple demon appeared next to Bill. "Cipher, what the hell do you think you're doing?!" he said sternly. "You hired me to torture the kid and now you're stopping me?!"

Bill rolled his eye. "I just don't think I can keep doing this whole demon thing anymore..." he said.

The other demon laughs. "You're not thinking, Cipher. I mean, there's no possible way you'd want to live amongst these measly humans, right?"

Bill looked away, staying silent. He didn't necessarily want to live amongst humans, but he did want his buddies to stop screwing with the Pines twins, especially Dipper. But that would cost him his powers. He couldn't do that...could he?

The purple demon huffed. "You're crazy." he said, his tone austere. "You can't actually be considering this."

Did Bill want to lose his powers? No, of course not. He did, however, want to be with Dipper. He had suddenly just become so interested in the boy, almost infatuated with him. "I am, actually." Bill says finally. He knew there was no turning back when he made the final decision.

The other demon sighed. "I can't believe you, Bill. You've been in this game for years with me and now you're just ready to give it all up?" He gave Bill a look of disapproval. "But if this is what you want, I guess I can make it happen..."

Bill looked at the fellow demon. "This is what I want." he said. He stayed silent for a moment before he spoke again. "But can you do me one last favor?"

The demon pondered for a moment. "Alright, Cipher. What is it?"

"Don't mess with the Pines family at all anymore. Not you, not any other demons. Got it?" Bill said, speaking clearly and sternly to make sure the other demon would understand his request.

The square demon held out his arm to Bill. "It's a deal." he said. His hand ignited in a bright purple flame.

Bill extended his own twig-like arm for one last time, firmly grasping the other demon's hand and shaking it. There was no turning back.
