The Battle

From the inside out,
Hues of black and red.
Looming and lurking
Forming and twisting
Binding my soul.
Suffocating what was left.
Causing a slow and painful death.
Decaying and Raveling hate,
Conquering the one thing that I fought so hard to save.
Mind whirling
Twirling about,
Giving me a feeling like I want to scream and shout.
A light
Just ahead,
But I can not get there
As I am already dead.
Trapped inside,
Trying to escape,
But it's too much.
They are too late.
I called outWith a cry,
But I was not worth saving as they walked on by.
Feverish temper,
Heavy hearted pain.
A source of liquor,
To dull the pain.
I peer in the mirror.
But there was no reflection.
It was gone,
Perhaps a bad connection.
Mincing with rage,
Trying to fight this pain.
On a battle field,
Paying my wage.
The fighting has commenced.
Swords clashing,
Cannons Flying,
People all around me dying.
Trying to hold on,
Nearing the culprit of this war.
There I met his eyes,
And he could not deny.
Coming for his prize,
But I would not comply.
I would win this war of hate.
This would not be my fate.
Quickly, he made a stab.
But missed, which made him mad.
I wasted no more time,
As I knew he was mine.
I stabbed him in the chest.
With this I must contest,
The demon's eyes rolled back in his head.
Upon the ground, he lay there dead.
Suddenly, I was shaken from my sleep
By a child who didn't make a peep.
I looked into her eyes,
And I knew I had won my prize.
That little soul hidden in the dark
Was now ready to be laid to rest.
She had fought so hard,
And so long.
But now that hideous creature was dead.
He could haunt her no more.
As she fell asleep,
I quietly made my way to the door.
Before I left,
I turned to look once more.
The hole in my chest.
The scars that I wore.
We're finally resting.
As I closed the door behind me,
I looked ahead.
There was my mountain,
And tonight I would climb it.
I broke my chains.
I was freed from my shame.
The hard part was done.
Now it was time to take back what was mine.
By caring for others
and giving love so divine.
