Chapter 7

Jasmine:

I'm walking back to my campground. Starring at my feet, holding fire wood under my arms.

I sigh, getting annoyed with myself. When I hear frantic footsteps behind me.

I turn and look up expecting Nick, but just as I look up something smashes into me. Forcing me to the ground.

I squirm underneath it but golden hair covers my eyes.

"What the hell? Get off me."

"Oh, sorry, Jasmine."

"Jared?"

"Yeah, I need you to come back with me," he says still not getting off me.

"To where?"

"To our camp. You see Snow saw something-"

"Jasmine! Where are you- oof!"

Snow lands on top of Jared. I can feel my face heat up in my struggle to breath.

"Get... Off..."

"You've got to come back with us I need to tell you something."

"Get... The... Hell... Off... Me..."

"So will you come?" Neither one has made any sign of moving.

"I... Swear... I.... Heard... A... Crunch..."

"WILL YOU?!" Snow demands.

"Only... if... you... get... off..."

"Okay," I could hear the smile in her voice.

She jumps off of Jared and he slowly pushes himself off. I sigh. "Finally."

I roll over onto my stomach, gasping for breath.

"Need help?" Jared laughs.

I ignore him and push myself to my feet. Dusting off my black pants I look at them.

"Where are we going?"

"C'mon follow me."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah! I swear I saw with my two eyes! It was Bre!"

"But, she died, I saw her die," I say.

"Yeah, she was warning me! She said 'see you soon' I think she's coming back! And Dew!"

I look down. Thinking.

"Do you believe me?"

I freeze before I answer. "It's hard to. But I do. For some crazy reason."

"Yeah," Jared starts, "I had a hard time believing her too."

"Shut your face, you- you ass."
My eyes widen.

Did Snow just curse? Since when?

"Whoa, Snow. What was that about?" I ask.

"He broke Fay's heart."

I find myself about to question him, when I remember her kissing Nick.

"Well, can't have two boys at once, I see," I mutter my hatred for Fay and Nick returning. But only for a second.

Jasmine, remember what grandma used to say 'grudges only burn the fire of conflict on, without the flames turning to ashes there's no way for growth'.
