It was a cold October evening. The sun just starting to set. A warm starburst glow shining upon a window to a hospital where an unknown widow lied in labor. Her heavy breaths echoing in the room as her weak hand held the bottom of the swelled stomach. Sick and unhealthy the women awaited the doctor in hope of having her child out before her sickness would get to it. With no family or friends to comfort her and unknown to her a dead husband, in war, she hummed a soft tune to an Irish lullaby.

". . .Sleep, baby dear, Sleep without fear, Mother is here beside your pillow. . ."

She then screamed out in pain clutching her stomach. A nurse came running in soon after. The nurse grabbed afew things to check apon the child. She looked up and ran out of the room, soon a few doctors and nurses came back in wheeling a cart behind.

"A c-section is required and we need to do this now."

The doctor looked at the mother and she nodded and turned to a nurse who stood beside her.

" I'm too sick as it is, please just make sure their name ends with Enns...Its what my husband wanted...."

The nurse nodded and smiled, " Don't worry you'll get through this as well Miss."

A weak laugh escaped her lips, "With that attitude" she panted and groaned "You'll only protect yourself...people like me" she turned away "they never last."

"I doubt that miss...miss?" The Doctors panicked but one was to busy focusing on getting the child to care. Hours later and the doctor held the child near the nursery. The nurse came up and watched wetting her lips before she spoke.

"Gabby Enns..."

The doctor looked at her a sad look on his face. A scowl coming over it.

"I've been hear only 5 years and yet every time the child I help birth is put up for adoption or its a single parent household. This one...she doesn't deserve it."

The nurse reached up and gently touched the mans shoulders. She looked the the child. Her hair a raven black and big blue eyes calm and looking up at the doctor. He smiled and turned back to the bed and set the child into it.

"You stay right there little girl. I'll be back in a few."

With that he looked at the nurse and turned to the door heading from the room.
