His combat boot stomp down the concrete stairs. The black folder in his hands is as stiff as he is. He opens door after door, pushing each open.

With a sigh, he looks his father in his blue eyes, much like his own. "It's ready father."

His father smiles at him, a strange twinkle in his eyes. "Good, good, great. That's outstanding, son. So, I hope you've prepared everything else for the attack on the West tomorrow?"

"Yes, of course, I already did everything I was told to."

"Good boy, you may leave now. Why don't you go home and get some rest?"

"Sure thing, father."

With that the boy turns back around. And begins walking out of the base.

He goes home, and changes into a long sleeve black shirt with a hood. And slips on a pair of old blue jeans. His black hair gleaming from the light shinning in through the window from the sun.

He isn't going to sleep, instead he gras the keys to the house slips on his shoes and runs out, after locking the door. He makes his way to the forest, walking through the snow.

Until he sees a little hut, the sight of it giving him butterflies and he walks in, without knocking. Only to see his very prized possession in there.

A girl with long red hair, shinning green eyes. She smiles a wide smile at him when he walks in. Immediately standing from her place on the bed near the fire in the fireplace.

She wraps two pale arms around his neck, and holds him tightly. "I missed you," she says her voice soft and frail.

"I missed you more."

She let's him go. "When are you going to come here with me, like you promised?"

He groans. "Melinda, I've told you a million times. I cannot come here to be with you, until after my father leaves for battle."

"Well, Paul! You told me that if he wasn't gone in a month you'd jus run away. Well, it's been a month, so?"

Paul freezes. "I... can't... not yet..."

Tears fill her eyes. "I can't believe you, you get me out of my home, claiming to love you. Saying that you'll come here with me. I don't care if I'm from the South. You need to follow through on your promises," she shakes her head, "I should leave. I should go home."

He moves closer to her, placing his hands on her shoulders.

"Listen to me, I will come back. I swear, on my life. And when I do, we'll leave the country."

She looks up at him. "Do, you mean it?"

"Of course I do."

She hugs him tightly, and kisses him on the lips quickly. "You should probably go, I don't want you to get in trouble."

He nods, kissing her again and leaves after saying a quick goodbye. His feet crunch the sticks on the ground.

There's a low rumble underneath his feet, he stops where he stands and looks down. The rumbling gets harder, and like ripped paper the ground brakes open and Phil fall in. Landing in the deep, depths of the earth.
