Ughh!! Who made up the dumb idea to put kids through this anyway? I'm smart enough already! People don't understand why I'm always complaining about middle school. "You get to sleep in and the workload isn't bad," you may say. Obviously you haven't been to my school.

Roberts Middle School. The only public school in the state that runs just like a private school. Sets their own time schedule and everyone's okay with it. Well, everyone except the students. Every year they change what time school starts. This year, school starts at 6:45 and ends at 2:00, same time as the high school across the street. Couldn't they have school start at the same time as all the other middle schools? But ever since the protest five years ago, things have never been the same.

You see, five years ago, this rich kid moved to our town and since there isn't a private school close by, he went to the middle school now named Roberts Middle School (His parents named the school after him, I think.). Anyway, he didn't like the way the school was being run, so his parents tried to protest. When the protest didn't work, his parents bought the school, got rid of all the old staff members and started it like it was brand new. They set all of the rules and it has been this way ever since.

I walked into the bathroom to wake myself up with a nice hot shower and get ready for school (1 thing I forgot to mention, we have uniforms. Ew). The warm shower always helps me wake up in the morning although you would think it would do the opposite. Just as I am drying off and getting into my uniform, I hear a knock on the bathroom door.

"Hey Jackie! Can you hurry up in there? Breakfast is ready and I don't want it getting cold." My mom. I love her so much and have never met ANYONE like her. Being an only child and her being a single mom helps tighten the bond between us. I mean, we're more like sisters than anything. We tell each other everything and always stick up for one another. If anything ever happened to her, I don't know what I would do with myself.

"Coming!" I reply. I quickly put on my make-up and hustle out to the dining room, where scrambled eggs and bacon are laid out perfectly. Of course they are, they are my favorite thing to eat for breakfast.

"Yum! Thanks Mom!" I say as I grab a plateful. Having this wonderful breakfast takes me out of my bad mood immediately. I hurry through my breakfast as my mom describes her busy schedule to me.

"Let's see. I have a review meeting with Betty about that break-in, then I have to go to court to defend Bradlen (weird name, I know), and finally talk to Tyler about his problem with his wife." Now before you get worried, my mom is a lawyer. In fact, she met my bozo dad in law school. When Mom become pregnant with me, Dad just, disappeared. We never worried about it though. We are independent women.

As soon as I was finished eating, I brushed my teeth. Thank goodness I packed my lunch the night before, I was late enough as it was. I barely had time to kiss my mom goodbye and run out the door to catch my bus.
