- Ayden's POV-

"Mom I ditched school because I was.." I tried explaining

"Was.." She yelled back

"Just busy"

"Busy with what?"

"Mom.."

"I'm tired of these excuses Ayden! Why don't you ever take life seriously. You have no idea how difficult life gets once you step in the real world"

Ok. Here she starts all over again. I dont understand what she means by the term real world. If that is going to be the real world then what the fuck is this?

I made my way out of the lounge and headed towards my bedroom. I was being followed by my mom and her aggravating lectures. At this point she was explaining me how education had benefitted her.

"If I didn't work hard, do you think I would ever be at this position. I have everything I want!"

"But are you happy?"

"Ofcourse I am" she replied reluctantly.

Lies, all lies. Sometimes I wish I could bawl out infront of my parents about how fake they are. They are never honest with anyone, not even themselves and whatever they do is done to impress people.

My father is the chief executive officer of a successful organization and my mother is a chartered accountant in the same organization. They are the most organized and straighten out people anyone could ever meet. The truth is they intend to deceive everyone around them. They claim they are happy but they are bogus.

I have a sister named Lillian who is twenty three and engaged to another bogus rich man who is eleven years older then her, that was chosen by my father. She did her masters in law and finance successfully and recently started a job. Then I have a brother, Lucas who is twenty, and is in college currently following our fathers footsteps.

They are both doing very well for themselves , and are making enough to stick their nose in the air like our proud parents.

I was in my room, as the radio was blaring out music. It was an ordinary night until I heard my parents yelling and arguing with each other at the top of their lungs. The house environment just got depressing, sometimes I wondered why were they even together?

Harsh but it was the truth why do something when it doesn't make you happy, why live with someone who doesn't love you.

Things just got serious and it was a critical moment now. Lillian was out however I wondered where Lucas was. I rushed downstairs and gazed at my parents in astonishment.

My mother detected my gaze and I noticed silent tears cascading down her cheeks. I could not bare those tears, it was killing me inside. My father walked away leaving my mother and I forsaken. I wish he abandoned us forever.

"Mom?" I silently questioned

My mother's face was blank. There was no emotion in her hazel eyes, she masked her emotions perfectly just as she masked the life she lived. My mother was emotionless. There was a pin drop silence in the lounge for a few seconds until my mom walked away following my father.

My mother has always been this unexpressive. I sat down on the sofa staring at an antique work of art wondering how difficult it was and will be to grow up here.

I saw Lucas walking in the house proudly, fixing his hair as he held his keys.

"What's good?" He asked with optimist

" Dad is a jerk." I replied making eye contact with him.

"Watch your mouth" he spat

"Fuck you" I muttered getting up walking away.

I didn't want to have an argument right now, because he works too hard to prove himself right. He is just as egoistic as my father.

--

I went back to my room and stood near the balcony when my mobile phone buzzed insistently. I went near the table where it was placed and grabbed my phone.

"Yo" John greeted

"Sup?"

" We are off to Richard's place, plan on joining?"

"Err...ok see ya" I turned the phone off without speaking any further.

--

As I walked into the house, I could smell the strong cheap alcohol, smoke and sweat. The walls echoed with thumping music, bodies were rubbing around each other while dancing, and everyone was dressed up in their best, attracting the opposite sex.

I noticed a girl looking at me amorously as she bit her lip but I didn't want any of that right now. I walked outside to the garden, ignoring the crowd.

There was a motionless environment and it was peaceful. Along with the slight breeze that refreshed me there was a drift of smoke. I observed a girl sitting on the grass as she took a long drag of the cigarette and blew out a cloud of smoke. I was curious to speak to her without any specific reason, perhaps because I felt she was here to escape from troubles of life just as I did.

"Hey" I began

"Hey" she replied smiling as she made an eye contact with me.

Her smile was incredibly attractive. She had beautiful dark brown eyes, the kind that you can look into and feel lost, the kind that showed emotions. She had a light medium brown colored skin, and her cheekbones were quite visible. Her long dark hair were being caught up by the summer breeze.

"Can I have a cigg?"

"Sure" she replied as she dug her pocket for a few seconds before she passed me a cigarette with a lighter and brushed me off continuing to smoke.
