She woke and stared at the ceiling as she tried to figure out what was going on. As she was laying there the bed was reasonably comfortable but the room smelled funny. At the moment she couldn't really say what was going on. As she was laying there in the bed she finally started looking around and found she was in a hospital room. How or why she was there she didn't know but she at least recognized the look and feel. With a glance around she carefully sat up and frowned. It was obviously later in the day and it looked like she had been there for a short time.

On a bed side stand was a vase of flowers and a card or two but not a great deal of things scattered around. "Well shoot, what happened?" She muttered before reaching over and pressed the nurse call button. "Um, can someone tell me what happened to me?" Her voice wasn't rough and her throat wasn't sore. As she was thinking about why she might be there someone replied to the call.

"Good afternoon Midori and it is nice to know you are awake. I am paging your doctor and also let your mother know." The call was disconnected moments later. It wasn't but a few minutes before a nurse came into the room to check her vitals. "The doctor will be here shortly as will your mother. They will explain what happened."

Midori wanted to grumble at that. "Why can't you tell me? It isn't like it is something horrible is it?" Suddenly she paled and started looking scared. When she spoke it was in a tiny worried voice. "You can't tell me because I am dying right? I have something horrible, cancer or some disease right?"

The nurse laughed before settling on the edge of the bed. "No silly, nothing like that. It is just the doctors job to tell you what is going on. Since you are a minor your mother needs to be here before he tells you."

Midori looked at the nurse and almost slumped in relief. Now she felt really silly for even thinking that. Even with her Asian features she could feel the blush and covered her face with her hands. "Oh god that was embarrassing." Now her voice came out as a squeak. It didn't help that the nurse grinned at her reaction. Just for that Midori stuck her tongue at the nurse. "You're not supposed to make fun of your patients."

The nurse stood up and started laughing again. "That the spirit. You are going to be fine Midori. If you need anything just use the call button. I did bring you a jug of ice water if you are thirsty." She started gathering her equipment up.

Midori made another face at her just for teasing. "Is it okay for me to get out of bed?" She really needed the bathroom. "Oh, and maybe a shower would be nice." She had scratched her hair and it just felt nasty and greasy. On top of that touching it had made her scalp start to itch. Now she wanted to scratch her scalp off.

"The bathroom is right there Midori but wait on the shower. It shouldn't be too long before the doctor and your mother show up." With that she left the room and closed the door behind her.

Almost as soon as the door closed she carefully climbed out of the bed and after checking her legs walked to the bathroom. Once done she was washing her hands and glanced in the mirror. For some reason she looked different than she had expected. Why she couldn't really say. Looking back in the mirror was a young Asian girl with a short stylish hair cut. It was the stereotypical straight back though the tips were died an ice blue. Dark eyes and light brown skin were complimented by delicate features. Added to that she was slender though thankfully not short, all in all Midori had to agree she was rather cute. Her musings were interrupted by the room door opening.

Midori hurried out and found some lady in the room and she frowned. The woman looked familiar but she couldn't bring her name to mind. "Hi, can I help you?" It was an Asian woman so she wondered if it was a friend of her mothers.
