The palace is busy preparing for the ball. They started to clean the halls, change the curtains and such...and I'm busy perfecting my manners with my mother.

"Alright princess, we're done for today" I nod and curtsied at her as a sign of respect. "I'll be going now mother..."

As I walked down the halls, I tried my best to greet all the maids who's busy at the moment...might as well practice myself for the upcoming ball.

Now that I'm in front of my father's office, like I always do, I knocked three times and waited for my cue to come in. I opened the door and smiled at him. "Good day father, busy with work?" I asked noticing his stressed face.

"Yes...how's princess lessons with your mother?" He asked. "Hmm...same as always I guess." I grabbed a book on his shelves and sat on the chair in front of his table. I started  reading the book which is entitled as "Her Smile"

"Father, I was wondering if I can go out of the castle...you know to see what's outside of this place looks like, 'cause the ball is going to be held inside and I'll never get a chance to set my foot outside" I wish he will allow me.

"Princess, that's dangerous you know..." my father looked at me with a sad expression. "It's okay if you won't allow me...I understand that." I stood up and returned the book from it's place. "I'll be going then...have a nice day father..."

I went back to my room and tried to take a nap. I looked at the ceiling above me. I love mom and dad, but sometimes, I feel like a caged bird...

I heard someone knocked at my door. "Come in!" the door opened. I looked up to see both of my parents looking at me. "We need to talk" they looked deadly serious.

Now that we're settled inside the office, mother started to speak up.

"Alirah...do you really want to go out?" I looked at her and replied.

"Mother, I understand that me being forbidden to go out of the castle is only for my protection, I understand that. But sometimes I feel like I'm a bird inside this big cage..." I answered honestly. What's the point of lying when you know the truth will be found sooner or later?

"The day before your 18th birthday, we'll let you go out but...you should disguise yourself as a commoner" I looked at them shocked. I hugged the both of them tightly.

"Thanks mom and dad...I'm really happy..." they just smiled at me. Finally!
