Come Home-OneRepublic
I've started missing you again, not that it should be much of a surprise. I miss you more today than yesterday, and I'm sure the same will apply to tomorrow. Every waking minute I miss you more and more. I wish so badly that you could be here by my side but instead you have to be thousands of miles away on a battlefield.
"You should have known better, Morgan," Tracy commented to my current behavior. I was curled up in a fetal position on a small leather recliner with a knit blanket draped over my thin shivering frame, some game show playing on the television in the background.
"I know, and I did," I replied. "My heart took precedence over my head and now I'm paying for letting it."
There are two options to every choice in life, follow your head or follow your heart. Sometimes they coincide with each other, but sometimes they don't. I haven't had much luck with the two getting along.
"Love is stupid," my flatmate changed the topic drastically.
"What makes you think that?" I couldn't help myself but question her conclusion.
"Everybody that's fallen in love has only had it come back and bite them in the ass later on in life," she defended her statement.
"Have you ever been in love before?" I asked, thinking that if she had and how the relationship turned out for her could be what led to this thought of hers.
"I have, but it was quickly proven impossible and I was in a wrecked emotional state for longer than necessary," she answered. "I felt that I didn't need any more of that in my life so I decided to cut love out of it. Stop looking for another person and remain an independent individual."
"Pain is just one of those emotions that proves your humanity," I stated, having learned this from a sociology lecture or from some other college class a few months ago. "Happiness, pain, sadness, joy, love, emotions show that we're human. Don't try to shut them out because they hurt. If you do that you'll just become a robot."
"Easy enough for you to say," she almost snapped in return. Jealousy was beginning to become prominent, so I decided that it would be best to cut off the current conversation we were having.
"No need to get all moody about it," I got out before putting my self-claim into action.
"And just so you know, you got another letter from your boyfriend," Tracy said in a sarcastic tone, but being literal with the given information, while tossing a letter in my direction. It fell into my lap and I had to muster all the energy I could to keep myself ripping it right open.
"Oh Jeremy, my sweet Jeremy," I muttered to myself inaudibly while reading his letter to me.
When he came back home four months ago he was deployed in Afghanistan, but when he had to return to war he was transferred to a classified mission. It's scary knowing that someone you care about is in a dangerous place where you see footage of terrible occurrences there, but it's even worse not knowing where they are. It's true when they say that your imagination is worse than anything you could be told.
I worry about you every day. I don't know where you are and I don't know how you're doing. It takes weeks for your letters to get to me and death can come to you in an instant. I could think you're fine one day and the next I'm getting a call from your mother saying that you'd been shot. It really scares me and I wish that you could just be home. I wish that you could just come back home and be with me.
You're missing from my life and I need you now more than ever. You're the better part of me and I've always believed that, even before we actually started dating. You're everything that I can't be and that's why I need you back here with me.
Please, come home when you can and I'll be waiting for you with open arms.
~Morgan

So, this was based on a roleplay I'm currently taking part in and I thought that it would work perfectly with this song. May seem cliche but the song is actually about army men, so I thought that I should reflect that in my own writing.
I hope this is enough to not get me eliminated this round, and maybe get a placing for this week.
