Alison Bryce

Today was the day of the ball, Ethan came everyday to my house after he hugged me during the movie. I felt more comfortable being alone with him. We always had something to talk about.

"You're going to do it today right?" Pedro asked making my heart race faster. He kept pressuring me into confessing to Ethan, but that a HUGE step. I don't want to bother him, or make him feel guilty if he rejects me.

"I-I don't know. What if he doesn't like me? "My voice came out shaky. I have never confessed to anyone, my heart was racing so fast and my head began to hurt.

Pedro stared at me and laughed, "You've got to be kidding me, he loves you. It's not even a crush anymore." Sometimes Pedro's words of encouragement sounds like those of a girl.

"Thanks Pedro but my heart is still racing" I whispered looking at my sweaty hands nervously.

I could hear the wooden chair scratching against the tile floor. She walked up to me and lifted up my face, "If he rejects you, i'll be here for you, so don't worry about it too much." He kissed my forehead and walked out of my house, "I'll see you at the ball."

I stared out the open door, what was that about? I shook my head violently.

NOPE, no weird thoughts. He wanted to cheer me up.

That thought soon flew out of my ear as I heard the door someone open the door, my heart was racing so hard I could hear it in my ears.

"Hey Alison, Its me Sophia" her voice seemed to have calmed me down a bit.

"Sophia you startled me" I placed my hand over my heart and laughed.

She also laughed, "Did you think I was a serial killer?"

I laughed nervously and diverted my gaze to the floor, "Yeah I did."

"Well are you ready" she asked holding up bags of makeup.

I nodded my head and shifted my feet uncomfortably.

After 3 HOURS of putting on makeup, me and Sophia were ready. Well it was actually just Sophia taking long. My cheeks were lightly tinted with more pink, my hair was curled nicely making them fall over my shoulders beautifully, my lips were traced with a bright red, and I had on my black laced mask. The dress I brought was beautiful, it was black and cream with a large black bow on the back.

Sophia's dress was bright pink with a bright purple mask. It was 4:20 and Ethan said he'd be here at 4:30.

"Alison, do you like Ethan" her question stunned me.

"Wha-t" I could even finish my sentence.

"It's alright if you do. He likes you A LOT. Even though I liked him, I could see that we were never meant to be. He's always talking about you and i personally think that you should tell him" she didn't sound hurt, she sounded glad.

"Ethan has had a very rough past and I just want you to know that youll be there for him. Even if you stop loving him or if he stops loving you. Just stay with him, you give him courage" These words were the first words of encouragement that Sophia had given me.

My heart began to slow down, "Yeah i'll be there for him."

She turned to me and smiled, "Thank you."

I shook my head, "I should be thanking you." We both laughed.

This was the first time I saw this side of her, the side that she showed her friends on the daily basis. For a minute I actually envied them, but envying them would be a waste of my time, I saw this side of her which meant that she finally saw me as a friend.

The doorbell rang but my heart wasn't racing anymore, I felt calm. Sophia patted my back.

"Good Luck."
