Chapter One

I awoke, at the set time everyone had to wake up at, sun shine dierectly in my eyes.

Groaning, I rise my limp body up, and run a hand through my messy, clay coloured hair, and trailed it to the back of my head, which was mostly fuzz.

I smelt the horrid smell of leftovers from last breakfast, which seeped over the great meal that my parents were eating.

They always made me eat what they claimed were leftovers, but looked like reconstructed mush, while they ate huge meals like RJ's Waffles, even though they claimed they were poor and couldn't afford the such.

I almost didn't care to wake up, but they would shout at me, claiming I'm wasting my so called "food" which almost reminded me of canned dog food, minus the smell. The smell was more like socks that hadn't been washed for a while.

"Levi.." I growl at myself. "Just get up."

I shift my legs, moving them to the edge of the bed, and finally, I hop off my bed.

Hazily, I start walking to the bathroom, which was luckily across the hall from my room. I almost trip, but I managed to catch myself on the pale wall.

"Ugh, I hate mornings.." I mumble to myself, looking in the mirror.

My frosty eyes look over all my fetures, those of a normal teenage boy, although now, normal usually meant something like purple eyes, or blue hair, thanks to the Gene Tonic vending machine, which are located inside almost every store, filled with things to inject yourself with, to change anything about your physical apperance by shuffling around your genes.

It was fairly cheap, fifthteen dollars for the eyes, twenty for everything else.

They acted like drugs; people claimed they were addicted to changing their apperance every week. some even every day. Some people even sit on the street, asking, begging for just one more hit of the glowing liquid in their body.

My eyes weren't anything special compared to those of everyone else's, but being born with, they were a bit rare, being the colour of a husky's eyes. They were usually just looked over by everyone, especially those with red eyes, that practically burned into your soul.
