Valeriya's POV

I awoke feeling metal tightly locked around my wrists. On instinct, I began to struggle, until I saw the same man. Clint Barton I was pretty sure that was his name. I remembered having some encounters with him. And now, as I got a good look at him, it all flooded back to me.

He was there. He and Natalia were there with their team of Цирк уродов (Circus Freaks). They murdered Ivan and the other recruits. They probably wanted to kill me too, but I survived, and now they're probably trying to kill me!

I shifted on the table staring at the other people in the room. They were there too. As they stared back me, their faces showed tenseness and maybe even nervousness.

"Кто ты?!" (Who are you?!) I shouted. They stared at me blankly. "Ответь мне!" (Answer Me!)

Then the man approached me. I tensed, but saw that his body language wasn't aggressive.

"Другие не могут говорить по-русски." (The others can't speak Russian.) He said in broken American Russian. "Вы говорите по-английски?" (Can you speak English?)

I nodded. "Who are you?" I said harshly, with my Russian accent breaking through the English words.

"My name is Clint Barton." He responded. "And, that's Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Thor Odinson, and the one person missing is Natasha Romanoff." And as if on cue, the redhead stormed in.

I immediately tensed up as i noticed she was not happy.

"Сука!" (Bitch!) She shouted and slapped me across the face.

I lost it there. The fact that Natalia of all people decided to call me that, infuriated me. I broke from the cuffs and lunged.

Clint's POV

"Natasha!!" I shouted.

Valeriya lunged at her and I pushed Nat out of the way. I signaled for Steve and Thor to try and restrain Valeriya, and told Tony to help Bruce control his emotions.

As soon as Steve and Thor had grabbed her, I pulled Natasha into a back room to discuss what the hell had just happened.

"What the hell!?" I shouted, which might have been too harsh.

"I'm sorry Clint. I don't know what came over me." She said tears brimming her eyes.

It pained me to yell at her like this. She was my best friend, and we always had each other's backs. But, I couldn't wrap my mind around the fact of what she just did.

"Well, something came over you Tasha."

"It's just, I knew her, and she knew me! I was training in the Red Room when she was first brought there, and the fact that she called me a traitor really pissed me off!" Tiny tear droplets fell from her eyes now.

I brought her into a hug, and rubbed the small of her back.

"Hey Tash, it's ok. I can't even imagine what your going through right now. Maybe you should keep your distance from her until we know she trusts us, and then maybe you can smooth out your relationship."

She pulled away and nodded, "Yeah. I guess that's a good idea. Thanks birdbrain." She smiled, and then walked to her extra SHIELD room.

"Well, at least that's settled." I thought, and walked back into the cell.

The scene I saw didn't surprise me. Valeriya was sitting on the table strapped down again, with an extremely pissed off face. And, Thor and Steve were sitting in chairs with multiple bruises.

"Let's forget that ever happened, ok?" I said.

"Whatever." She spat.

"So. You are- were a Red Room trainee?" I asked, trying not to get into dangerous territory.

"I was the best assassin. Hardly a trainee." She hissed. "And don't think that coming into your custody will keep me from remembering my home."

"Wow." I said, "They really did brainwash you, didn't they?"

I saw her muscles tense, and brows tighten, "I don't know what your talking about Barton."

"You were given false information, false memories actually. Did you really enjoy it there?"

"I-I don't know." She said, "I don't know." Tears brimmed her eyes.

"What were you thinking as they strapped the metal helmet to your head, and all of a sudden, you were in a great deal of pain?"

"I thought they were fixing me. They said they would fix me, and help me become something better."

That crushed my heart to hear. Nat had opened up to me about her time in The Red Room, but she never said what she was feeling during the experiments. It pained me to know that my best friend had been hiding so much pain, behind her mask.

"Did you think you were pleasing them when you sparred with others, and killed them?"

"Look Agent Barton, I did what I needed to do. I needed to please them, and I still want to." She hissed, slipping her mask back into place.

At that moment, I lost my cool, "You need to understand that you so called home is gone, and your never going back again! This is your new home, and you need to realize that those people were evil."

Tear droplets fell down her face, and she burst into tears. The other Avengers had already left the room, and this time, I didn't hesitate to walk over to her, and hug her.

As she tensed, I whispered, "We are going to help you."
