The Legend of the Lunas is a dark tale, told at night, when the moon is high to frighten the young. It is an old tale, but it is a true tale.

Once, a long, long time ago, the days were dark as night.

Werewolves were cruel, and ungrateful for the gift of their wolf. The alphas tortured their packs, acting as kings instead of equals. They were dark and twisted, held back by no one but their timid lunas, the shyest of all and often not the alpha's real mate.

The Moon Goddess was angry. She warned them all of the consequences of their dark paths, and she told them that if they continued to be ungrateful and cruel, they would be punished.

They did not listen.

For a time, they went unpunished, and so they thought they were safe.

But they were wrong.

Two generations after the Moon Goddess had warned her children, a curse was sat upon them.

It came in the form of a girl.

Her heart was black as night, matching with her black eyes but rivaling with her hair as white as snow, and skin as pale as death. She was known as the Black Luna.

The cruelest of all the alphas, Alpha Xerxes, was cursed to have the Black Luna as his mate. He was unable to reject her, for even with his cruel ways he loved her so. But she did not love him. And she did not love her people. She brought death and destruction, despair unknown to any werewolf in the world. But she did not stop there. She revealed the secret of the werewolves to humans, and helped them to hunt down and kill her kind. Her group became known as Hunters, humans with the bravest of souls and the darkest of hearts.

The werewolves, desperate and aware of their sins, begged the Moon Goddess to take back her curse, and save them all.

But she would not. However, the Moon Goddess was sympathetic with her children, and instead set upon them someone to rival the Black Luna. She became known as the White Luna.

Her hair was black as night, rivaling greatly with her heart of gold and her eyes as bright as the moon she came from.

The kindest of all the alphas, Alpha Luca, was blessed to have the White Luna as his mate. She was kind and caring, and brought peace and happiness to him and their people. But the peace did not last for long, for the Black Luna had caught word of the White Luna, and was determined to wipe her out.

She caused a Great War, which lasted for twenty years, before both of the Great Lunas were wiped out, and the werewolves were left to figure things out for themselves. Alpha Xerxes and Alpha Luca came together, and they vowed that peace would forever reign throughout their world, or may the Black Luna come back and destroy them all.

What they did not know, was that the Moon Goddess took their word to heart.

For many centuries the werewolves lived in peace, occasionally dealing with the few Hunters who still believed in werewolves, but otherwise happy.

Until today.
