Chapter 1: Pizza Xtra

I was up all night finishing my English essay and am now so exhausted. My stomach gives a huge rumble and I slouch downstairs to the kitchen. Opening the fridge, my eyes widen in horror when I see there is nothing good to eat. Sighing in exasperation at having nothing to eat, I grab my car keys and my bag, lock the front door and drive to the local and my favourite place on the planet, Pizza Xtra.

Yeah, yeah, the name is cheesy...But so is the pizza!!!(sorry!) I park near the entrance and walk in, happy and alert now knowing that I get pizza for breakfast. Ordering a large plain pizza and a diet coke all for myself (I can eat a lot!) I sit down at a booth near the window and wait to be served. (Just so you know, my mum is abroad working and my dad is in the military, so I hardly get to see him. I'm living alone right now, and my mum doesn't come back until a month later. She's a famous wedding planner if you were wondering, and she's going to do 5 weddings one after the next in Washington D.C.) In 5 minutes, my pizza comes and I dig in hungrily. Looking around, I see that the place is completely empty except for me and some guy. He looks around the same age as me and he has green eyes, dark brown hair in waves and his skin is a golden glow. With my dirty-blonde hair, straight and quite long, plain brown eyes and pale-ish skin I look like a small sparrow compared to a magnificent colourful parrot. Suddenly his eyes flicker to me and our eyes meet for a split second before I look away. He's good looking alright, but I'm not interested. I'm actually never interested in any guys...probably because I don't give them a chance, but I don't really need a boyfriend right now do I. I'm in year 12, and I'm planning to get into an at least good university even though I'm really pissed about work and stuff. I go back to stuffing my face with pizza and closed my eyes in bliss, enjoying the cheese melting into my tongue and sliding down my throat smoothly and gracefully like a waterfall...

"Ahem."

I snap open my eyes and directly in front of me I see the same boy I was a staring at a few minutes ago. Without asking me, he sits down in the booth opposite mine, resting his elbows on the table and placing his head in his hands. Other girls would swoon at the sight of him, but me? No. I don't know why, I just don't. I look down at him with a glance, raise my eyebrows, then continue eating. He can't expect me to stop eating just to talk to him, let alone acknowledge him.

"Hey," annoying boy says.

I look up and nod, as if saying hey back.

"What's your name?" He asks, smiling.

Swallowing some pizza I reply," Addison, yours?"

"Tobias. You have a great name by the way, what does it mean?" He flashes me a dazzling smile.

"Ummm I don't know what it means. Why do you need to know?" I shoot back awkwardly.

"Oh, no reason. I just thought that it must mean 'angel', because I see one opposite me right now," he replies creepily.

"Ummm...well nice knowing you. I'm gonna be late for school sooo yeah. Bye," I say.

"Oh which school do you go to?" He asks. Not in a creepy way but in a genuine way.

"Northshore, what about you?" I ask back.

"Really?! I'm actually starting Northshore today! I'm in class 12b, what class are you in?" He says excitedly.

"Oh cool I'm in the same class as you then." Great, now things are gonna be awkward from now on.

"Wow! This is such a coincidence! So you wanna walk to school together?" He asks a bit to eagerly.

"Er I came by car but I can give you a ride if you want." I try to be polite and force a smile onto my face.

"Sure! Thanks a lot!" He smiles.
