Ava's POV:

I roll my eyes.

"Too soon Issy, way too soon." I say as we walk out the door.

Just then, I hear his voice.

We turn to see the Dolan twins walking out their garage toward the bus stop.

Shoot.

"I thought they get a ride with their mom!" I whisper yell to Issy.

"I'll handle this. Those punks better keep their mouth shut today."

"Maybe we should go back inside until the bus comes." I whine. I really cannot see Ethan right now.

"Don't let them get the satisfaction! Just keep quiet and give them your evil eyes."

Ethan's POV:

I see Ava and Issy whispering as they walk across their lawn toward the bus stop. Mom can't drive us to school today because today is the day she blocks everyone out and mourns in her room. Her brother and Ava and Issy's mom died exactly 8 years ago.

"Grayson, don't even talk to them." I lightly punch my brother's arm.

He doesn't respond. I follow his eyes to Issy. For years, he's basically been in love with her. She is hot, but not my type. Ava on the other hand....

I shake my head.

She hates you, obviously it will never work.

We all stand in silence for only 30 seconds waiting for the bus when Issy had to open her mouth.

"What are you idiots doing here?" Issy spits.

Damn she's so different from Ava.

Grayson's body tenses at her tone of voice.

"None of your business!"

Ugh, he is so desperate for any conversation with that girl.

I roll my eyes as Issy huffs. My eyes can't help but notice Ava's big green eyes. Our eyes lock for a split second before she averts them quickly to her black boots.

I saw her this morning... Err, more like heard her. Her screams made me feel so helpless. I've wished for so long that our families could move past the trauma. I miss the long summer days running and laughing with Ava. I thought we had something special. Something different than what she had with Grayson. I'm probably just wishful thinking...

"ETHAN!! You goof, the bus is here!" Grayson's voice interrupts my thoughts.

"Oh, sorry." I adjust my backpack and walk toward the bus.

Wait....

My skin feels hot, I feel her eyes on me.

I decide not to look up, because I know she'll turn away.

I am beginning to catch feelings for that broken girl. And for the first time, I allow the butterflies to fly.
