This is a Zexion oneshot for XMarionetteGirlX. She is a good friend of mine from another site and I am always happy to write for her. Enjoy! :)
"Remember Yuuki, I brought you here to Twilight Town to help me gain information about their ways of life. You are to not leave without my permission, or to wonder off; understand?" The voice of Zexion could be heard as Yuuki walked along next to him, obviously not content with the rules she was set with.
"But Zexion, all of those restrictions are just no fun!" Yuuki complained, her voice sounding childish as her out spoken attitude came out. Yuuki was very serious at times but when she didn't like something, she would be very outspoken. "Why don't we go to the Sandlot? I hear they're having this thing called a Struggle Tournament!"
"We don't have time for those childish things. I need this information to better enrich myself in this world's history and archives. You'd had best follow my example if you wish to be a stronger fighter." Zexion said, holding his book by his side as he stared into Yuuki's icy blue eyes. Once he had finished, he turned back around as he started to walk again, Yuuki giving a low huff as she continued to follow her partner towards one of their many locations, the Market District.
*Market District*
"So this is the Market District. It seems you can buy things such as potions, weapons and other goods here." Zexion said out loud to himself as he started to write down in his book, Yuuki walking around to see many people enjoying their afternoon.
"Hey, why don't we get some ice-cream?" A young girl said to her boyfriend, as Yuuki watched the happy couple. "Sure, after we can go watch the Struggle Competition!" The couple then laughed as they happily walked towards the ice-cream shop, Yuuki looking down sadly. Why couldn't Zexion act like that towards her? She's liked him ever since she met him; couldn't he see that?
"Yuuki, what's wrong?" Yuuki's head snapped up as she turned to see Zexion staring at her with a look that she could not describe.
"Oh y-yeah, I'm fine. Where do we go to next?" Yuuki asked as she walked over to Zexion, looking at the book in his hands.
"Next, we got to the Twilight Town Train Station. I hear that that particular place has some interesting facts behind it." Zexion said as he started to walk, looking back at Yuuki as she was not moving. "Yuuki, come on. We're almost done." Yuuki nodded, not saying a word as she caught up with Zexion with a disappointed look on her face.
*Twilight Town Train Station*
Yuuki walked along the path way to find herself, along with Zexion,at the Twilight Town Train Station.
"Yuuki, please stay here while I go into the Station. I promise that I won't take long." And with that, Zexion left towards the Station as Yuuki was left with her thoughts.
"Why can't he see that I like him?" Yuuki sighed, talking to herself as she leaned against the brick wall that surrounded the Station's area. "Oh well, at least he's happy with all of this new information; not entirely sure what he'll need it for though." Suddenly she heard footsteps as she looked up to see Zexion, writing down some last few notes in his book as he then closed it, looking at her with a rare smile.
"I'm finished with my research. If you would like, maybe we can go see that Struggle Competition you were so eager to see before." Zexion said.
"Really?! Then come on; let's go!" Yuuki said with a smile as she took Zexion's hand as she started to drag him towards the Sandlot as her heart leapt for joy.
*Sandlot*
The Sandlot was packed with people, kids running around in joy as others went to participate in the last rounds of the tournament. Yuuki smiled gleefully as she looked to find that the competition was almost over but if she just caught a glimpse, that was good enough for her.
"Now folks, it's time for our final match of the evening! Our current Champion, Seifer against our competitor Hayner! Now let the match commence!" The announcer said as the two started to fight, people screaming and cheering for whoever they wanted to see win the match. Yuuki ran up close to see the fight commence as Zexion tried to catch up with Yuuki, only to be pushed back the crowd of screaming fans.
"And your winner is the new Champion, Hayner!" creams and cheers could be heard as the arena was crowded and had little space as Yuuki was being pushed and shoved through the crowd. She quickly squeezed herself out as she ran into an alleyway, opening a portal as she teleported herself to a secluded part of the Market District.
"Whew! That sure was fun, wasn't it Zexion? Zexion?" Yuuki asked as she looked to see that her partner was no where to be found. "Z-Zexion? Where'd you go?!" Yuuki yelled, expecting to see him run up to her but to find no one around; she was alone. Yuuki started to breath irregularly, holding her chest as she started to run around the place, looking for Zexion where ever she could. It was starting to get dark, the moon shining as Zexion was still nowhere to be found. "I know! I'll go back to the Sandlot!" She said to herself as she ran as fast as she could towards the Sandlot; maybe he would be there waiting for her. However by the time she got there, no one was to be found as she could see discarded confetti and balloons still in area as she remembered the Struggle Competition. "W-Where are you?" Yuuki said quietly to herself as she held brought her arms around herself in order to keep her somewhat safe.
"Yuuki!" A voice yelled out loudly as Yuuki turned to see Zexion running towards her with a mad expression on his face. Yuuki winced at the sight of his anger, mentally hitting herself to make her own crush go looking for her after she made a stupid mistake. "Where the hell did you go?! Do you know I've been looking everywhere for you!?" He yelled at her, Yuuki's eyes starting to go red as she felt water coming to the brims of them. Zexion then brought his hand back as if to slap her as Yuuki closed her eyes, ready for the pain to strike. However, she didn't feel any pain, only a warm feeling around her body as it held her tightly. Yuuki cautiously opened her eyes as they then went wide, seeing that Zexion wasn't going to hit her but was holding her protectively in a warm embrace. "Don't you ever scare me like that again. I thought I was going to lose you... and I would never forgive myself if anything were to happen to you."
"Y-You really mean that?" Yuuki asked, tears now pouring down her face as she held in her sobs to look at her long time crush. Her stomach felt like she had butterflies in them and for once she felt like she had.... a heart; feelings that were real just for this one person in her non-existent life.
"I do." Zexion said in a whisper as he then leaned down towards her and took her lips with his in a soft kiss. Yuuki's eyes closed softly as she felt tears of joy flow down her face as their kiss continued under the soft glow of the moon light. Her arms wrapped around his neck as his wrapped around her waist, holding her close as the night sky was shining with stars. The two then pulled away as Zexion brought Yuuki back in a for another hug as he leaned down towards her ear.
"Don't ever leave my side, not even for a moment."
