Mei Fukui walked down the hallway and overheard the girls talking about the rating list of the girls the boys made. She wasn't that interested in it.. Well maybe just a little. But she's too afraid to look at the results because she knows she'll get a bad rate. Mei sighed and continue walking on until a classmate of hers walked up to her.
"Hey, Mei," she smiled. Mei turned to see it was Jenn, one of the few girls that actually bother to talk to her.
"Yeah?" She replied as she stood next to her next class's door.
"What did you get for the rates?" Mei flinched at the question and shrugged.
"Don't know, don't care," she half lied.
"I think you got around five to seven," Jen thought for a moment. For some reason, Mei kinda got offended at the rating. She was so used to getting good grades and good rates from almost everything else. All but her personality and appearance.
"Oh," Mei replied simply. She acted as though it didn't affect her and walked into class. She sighed and took out her books. The only place where she actually has friends were online, on the internet. Mei knows how dangerous it is and the consequences of meeting strangers online, however she had met no one but kind people. She never gave out any private information, even her name.. But there's a couple where she depends on and is her best friend. Without them, she would've committed suicide already. Miku was one the first close friends she had met over the internet, they known each other for about five to six years. Another was Scarlett and Ann. There are some other friends she could trust but not entirely. Mei acts like a hyperactive girl online that seems to be never sad. Miku knows how moody she could get though. But in reality, she's just a boring freshmen who has no sense of humor.
"Good morning, Mei!" A voice behind her chirped, her thoughts disappeared and her attention went to the voice. She knew who it was without even turning around. It was Keichi Akiyama. He always greets her and usually try to start conversations but always fail. Even though Mei wanted friends, she kept on pushing Keichi away. She just has this.. Feeling that she shouldn't hang out with him, there was something off about him.
"Morning," she replied, taking out her books and pencils.
"You're so smart, Mei.. Do you think you can come over at my place today? I need some help with my math," he stared admiringly at her.
"I'm sorry, but my parents don't allow me to visit boys," Mei replied.
"I'll ask my parents to ask yours then, no biggie!" He continued and watched her head lean against her fist.
"I suppose that'll work.. However I will leave if you get distracted too much," she continued in her usual dull tone.
After Keichi left, another girl approached her. Weird... This never happened before.. Probably just coincidence, there's no way people would approach me just to start a casual conversation.. Except Keichi of course.. Mei thought to herself. She looked up and it was Ichigo, apparently she has a crush on Keichi. She's a really nice and sweet girl, you could never catch her being mean or bullying someone.
"Hello, morning Mei," Mei bowed her head a bit at her. "What do you and Keichi always talk about? I always see you two together," Ichigo asked and gave her one of her nicest smiles.
"Oh, he's kinda annoying.. He's usually following me. Today he asked if I could come over to his house to help him study. Of course, I refused because my parents wouldn't allow me but he's going to get his parents to ask mine so I don't see any harm done," Mei explained and included all the useless details, its one of her habits that make her seem very boring.
"Oh.. I wonder why he doesn't notices me, he's always looking at you.." She sighed. Seriously? He does? Mei thought to herself, as if reading her mind, Ichigo continued. "I know, surprising right? And you don't seem interested in love or anything besides your studies.. No offense," she smiled apologetically at her. Does it really seem like that?
"No, no one is interested in me so I don't see myself in a relationship anytime soon.. Ergh, besides Keichi.." Mei is glad Ichigo isn't like the other girls, she didn't bully her because she 'stole her man away'. But she's sure Ichigo's a bit frustrated with her.
After Mei's conversation with Ichigo, class began and no one approached her anymore that day. When school ended, Mei closed her manga book and shoved it into her bag. As she walked out of the building, she heard a voice calling behind her.
“M-Mei!” She turned around and saw Keichi, running up to her.
“Yes?” Mei replied.
“Remember we’re suppose to study together, today!” He smiled at her, she tilted her head and quickly remembered.
“You haven’t asked my parents yet,” she said and continued to walk ahead. She heard him sigh and he quickly caught up with her.
“Alright, I’ll call my parents now, wait here, they’ll be here in a second since I told them this’ll happen..” He fumbled around for his phone and quickly got it out. Mei sighed and leaned against the pole that was in front of the school entrance. She’d forgotten how rich Keichi was, sometimes she would wonder why he would even stay in such a bad school instead of going to a luxurious private school. When she asked, he never answered. After a bit, he puts his phone away.
“Aight, my dad will be arriving soon, he’ll drive us to your home,” Keichi smiled at her. Mei slumped her head sideways, just in time to see this familiar boy passing by. Their eyes met for a moment but Mei’s instinct told her to look away.
“Kay, I’ll be going this way now,” she heard one of his friend said.
“Bye, remember to go online,” another boy said.
“My dad is here!” Keichi said, distracting her from eavesdropping, he grabbed her arms and when she turned around a beautiful white limo was parked nicely in front of the school. Mei’s eyes twitched. She saw the boy staring at her as she got into the car.
“Really? A limo?” Mei asked after the door shut.
“You like it?” Keichi smiled, happily.
“Er.. Can’t say I do.. I don’t like limos cause they’re big and take up a lot of space..” She looked out the window and turned around to check on the boy, he was gone. Why is she interested in him anyway? Perhaps she found him quite attractive..
When they arrived, Mei quickly unlocked the door and walked in, wondering what her parents will say to this.
