Grun

"No way, I don't want to get involved with her!" Zippie protested against Evanz's idea, "We agreed to avoid each other when the alliance went to shit!"

"Come on Zippie, this'll be beneficial to the entire village! You don't understand how important it is that we get her!" Evanz fired back, "Don't tell me you still care for the pest."

"W-what? Of course I don't! I just think that capturing her will be harder than you're leading on..."

"If you follow Evanz's plan then it will be one of the easiest things you've ever done." Fluke chimed in to the conversation.

"You don't understand!" the spy exasperatedly threw his hands in the air and turned his back to the Lords.

"Hey, it's been how many years now? Get over it." Fluke walked over to the couch in the middle of the room and plopped himself down, throwing one arm across the back and putting a foot on the top of his knee.

"Gee, that sounds pretty hypocritical." Zippie turned back around and crossed his arms.

"...Shut up." the Lord cast his eyes downward.

"At least think about it, Zip. It would be a big help." Evanz walked up to Zippie and put a hand on his shoulder.

"...Fine." Zippie turned around and walked out of the house.

Zippie closed the door behind him and trotted down the steps and onto the concrete streets, lost in his own thoughts. They were so close, but it's been years since they separated, so why is he feeling like this? He thought he was over her, but seeing her again confused his feelings. "I can't believe how pathetic I'm being..."

"Zippie? Are you talking to yourself again?" he looked up to see Cadeirenn, Cadey for short, standing in front of him. Cadey was Grun's healer, but she was special, because she knew non-magical and magical ways of healing, whereas many other healers could only do one or the other. Of course, it was helpful that her mother knew magic, so she inherited her abilities. Her father did not have the ability to use magic, so he taught her non-magical ways to heal people, that is until her own magic came in and her mother had to help her learn them.

When she left home and moved into Grun, she continued learning how to heal in both ways, making her a valuable member of the community. "Oh, did I say that out loud? Sorry Cadey."

"Heh, it's not like it's the first time you've done that." she snickered, "Where're you off to?" she started walking alongside Zippie, the wind pushing her short hair and revealing her differently colored eyes, something people don't see very often since her hair covers the top half of her face almost constantly. She was wearing her usual red long-sleeved shirt and black jeans.

"I dunno, I'm just walking I guess. I didn't even know what direction I was heading in if I'm honest."

"Did you just come from Fluke and Evanz's place?" Cadey asked, looking in the direction Zippie came from.

Zippie sighs before answering, "Yeah, I did. I'm having trouble figuring out if I want to do this one job or not..."

"Well, do you mind telling me what the job is?"

"It involves someone from my past. Someone I thought I'd never have to come into contact with again."

"Well, do you hate said person?"

"...No, not particularly. I think it may be the opposite, actually."

Cadey stops walking and puts a hand on Zippie's shoulder, turning him towards her, "Whoever they are, you can't let them fog up your mind. Don't get distracted by your past. If it helps Grun at all, just do it. Don't think about it, and don't let it complicate things. The past can't be changed. It strengthens who you are today. Use that strength to your advantage."

Zippie looks down at the ground and takes his hands out of the pockets he subconsciously put them in earlier. He looks back up with a look of determination and nods.

"You're right. Thanks, Cadey." Zippie turns around and walks back to the house of the two Lords.

"You'll do it? That's great! I knew we could count on you. Come back later, we're getting this over with tonight." Fluke smiled with excitement at the young spy.

"Good. The sooner, the better."
