I looked around, a little frightened of what is to come.
Its not that bad.
I walked deeper into the forest as I looked at some of the dry lifeless trees.
I touched the bark of the one nearby and yellped as the particular place fell into tiny pieces of bark, and a thousand black spiders scattering out.
Oh, yeah right. Haha. Any forest has its spiders and...stuff.
I tryed to convince myself.
I didnt feel scared anymore because it was replaced with sadness.
I slumped down on the cold grey black snow, with dead plants sticking out here and there, and cryed like the tears will never end.
"I told you, you'd never be enough."
A hissing voice said, somewhere hidden in the dark shadows, as I jumped and looked around, my breathing raged.
"Wh- Who's there?" I stuttered out in fright.
It was scilent. Deadly scilent.
And then a hunched figure came into sight covered in a black robe as well his head.
I yellped again as it came towards me.
"Oh just kill me and make it quick and less painful." I begged as I closed my eyes shut as the figure was now standing right in front of me before my feet.
"Why did you come here? You must be quite brave to do that or maybe, desperate to escape from the one who hurt you."
I frowned and opened my eyes to look at the figure.
It was an old man, with many rinkles, white ghostly face, black sharp teeth and striking yellow cat like eyes.
I was frightened
"I- I was- I wanted...uh.."
"Desperate ?"
He said lifting his eyebrows that looked like cracks in his head.He chuckled making me shiver.
"Come with me." He gently urged me, offering me a white bony hand with stick long black nails.
I hesitantly took it and shivered at the cold blooded feeling of it.
It was.. um... interresting?
He putted an arm around my waist as he guided me through the forest.
"Let me guess, your going to kill me, break my bones and tie me in to a knot then dump me outside of the forest." I said trying to be brave but sounding like I want to run for my life.
Which I did. Very much.
He chuckled again as I could smell his rotten breath.
Yuck!
"We only do that with the brave souls who thinks they can enter and live to tell the tail of how fearless they are. But we dont often get a soul in need of help and sympathy "
"Wait. You can be good to?"
"Yes, but for something in return."
We stopped infront of a rotten wooden door, with moss growing on it and vines climbing up it as well.
He pushed it open as damp droplets fell on my face and black bugs scattered around.
"What do you want from them in return."
"Well, you see...Ah look its my lovely wife."
My head jurked toward an old woman with dirty white hair that hung just above her waist.
Her eyes were emerald green and her lips and face as white as snow.
She was also dressed in a black robe while she stirred with a big wooden spoon in a big metal pot.
It smelled of dead leaves, and blood.
"This my dear, is Ziola and I am Petro. Ziola this is the one of that has been foretold by the profecy, Melanie Le France.
The woman let her spoon fell in shock as she rushed over to me, searching me everywhere.
Scaning me with her eyes.
Touching me with sharp bony fingers.
And then grabed my hand to prick my finger.
"Ouch! What are y-"
"Shh!" She hushed me holding up a bony finger infront of my face as she examined the blood on the sharp needle like stick.
And then she licked it clean, tasting it carefully, analysing the DNA.
Oh, I think Im gonna be sick.
Her eyes widen as she looked at me directly in the eyes, dropping the stick, which clattered to the floor.
"Its her." The woman said unbelievably in a croaky voice.
What are they talking about?
She looked at her husband as she nodded.
"Its time."
And with that the both escorted me to a little room with a bed made of, surprisingly soft pillows and covers.
"Stay here, Petro will keep you company" She said rushing off into the kitchen again.
I looked at Petro.
"Time for what? What are you going to do? And how do you know me?" I said a little scared
He sighed and started telling me about some said profecy that prodics the future and the forest's saviour, which in this case, was me.
"How can I save this forest? Its already dead." I said obviously.
"The forest is dead because of the sad souls that can't get peace. You will be able to free us all, Melanie."
"Why me?"
"Because you are the most strongest and most determined person in the whole kingdom. You are capable of much more then you think."
"What if I refuse?"
He face changed into one of a deadly expression.
"Then we will have to force you."
I gulped as I saw his eyes glowing, starting to turn orange.
"Wh- What exactly must I d- do?"
I stuttered
His eyes turned normal again and his expression was now calm.
"That my dear, is up to you and you alone. We may not interfere."
"But-"
I was interrupted when Ziola came in with a wooden bowl and what looked like a spool made from bones and thick skin.
Like I said, Im feeling sick.
Petro took the bowl from her and handed him a rusty metal blade that I didnt notice when she walked in.
"Here, your going to put five drops of your own blood in this bowl, mix it with the spoon and then...drink it"
My face turned green.
"Serious?"
They both nodded.
I looked at the yucky green, red and brown mixture.
I gulped back the vomite that wanted to come.
I took the bowl with shaky hands, as well as the rusty blade and looked at them both placed on my lap.
What can be worse then this. If you die you die. If you turn into a monster then so what?"
I nodded my head, determination sprawled over my face.
"I'll do it."
The both smiled as they waited in anxiety.
