Day 2: A song that you listen to a lot

*****************************************************************

I've seen her face

Class president, captain of the volleyball team, silky brown hair, chocolate brown eyes, my dream girl.

I've heard her name

Samantha Wales.

I've lost my place and she's to blame

She beats me at every thing. Whether its smarts, arts, or even athletically--which I am absolutely no good at. But she is great at everything. I wish I had the balls to ask her out. I can't though. She wouldn't say yes. I'm Chris Weiss. A guy who does nothing but writes songs with his one friend who is his step-sister. She's the perfect girl, and Im just me. Well, not everything can work out the way we plan. ------------------------------"Hey, Michelle?" My step-sister glances up from her phone to look at me. "Yeah?" "Do you fell like writing tonight?" She smirks. You see, Michelle and I write songs together. She writes them-- with my help of course-- and then I perform them. Maybe on YouTube or if I get a gig at one of the local cafes. "Oh, you get a wave of inspiration today?" "Just a little." We head up to our studio. A.K.A. the attic. "Have a seat my darling brother and tell me what's on your mind. I tell her everything about Samantha.

And I can't stand it  When I'm staring in her eyes  And she's not looking back  It ain't a big surprise

I stare at Samantha as she walks down the hallway. People crowd around her but I can tell that she really isn't paying attention to them. I stare into her round, chocolate eyes. As if she saw someone staring at her she looks at me. My heart flutters, but only for a moment because she has already looked away from me. Doesn't surprise me. She's popular and beautiful, and Im me.

I've heard music, I've heard noise

She's also in my music class. She's such an amazing singer. I walked into class and there she was talking to her friend. I sit behind her because of our last names. I can't help but to overhear her talk about signing up for the talent show. Doesn't surprise me. She's an amazing singer. Just then Mrs. Garnet walked into the room and asked for us to present our projects. Our project was to create an original cover of our favorite song. One by one, Mrs. Garnet randomly chooses students to present. "Ms. Wales, you're next." Samantha stands up. She sings a slowed down acoustic cover of Awake and Alive by Skillet. I didn't know she liked the same kind of music as me. Score one for Chris! Oh, but I have many more to go. After a while it's now my turn and I sing Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls but with a twist. I could've sworn that she was giving me googly eyes. Nah, must be my eyes playing tricks on me.

I wish that she could hear her voice  The way that I do  When I go to sleep at night  And dream my life away  But she's gone when I awake

That night I dream of Samantha and her angelic voice. I dream of us singing together. I dream of her loving me the way that I love her.

Sami, Sami  Why can't you see  What you're doing to me?

Michelle has just finished some of the song. She hands me the paper to sing while she plays the piano. I sing and let all of my emotion show. The song was amazing. "Chelle this song is exactly how I feel! You have to finish it so I can put it on YouTube." "On one condition." I look at her carefully. She has something up her sleeve, I can tell. "You have to tell that girl that you like her." My jaw goes slack. "No way." "Yes way! I don't care how you tell her just do it!" I can't do that. THeres no way I can. She wouldn't like me and Id be humiliated for the rest of my life. "I can"t," and with that I walk out of the attic and to my room, slamming the door as i pass.
