Noah To the side <3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The cold wind cut through the air as the soldiers stood there staring at the man they had captured. White snow covered the grass and continued to fall; giving the men no break from the torturous weather. Winter has only just begun and even the toughest of men were huddled around a fire throwing out complaints and whining every other minute.
The captive however, never muttered a single word, never shivered, and never broke a goose bump throughout his toned body, even as the men had stripped him bare of all his clothes and left him tied to a post to freeze. The men thought him to be a wolf. Not human, as he just stood there and smiled at them. Smiled at the men thinking that they have finally caught him. Of course, this was all part of Noahs plan. As the enemy huddled in front of a fire, Noah's men were climbing the castles walls planning an attack.
Everything was going according to plan, all that was left was John, his second in command, to give the signal that he has Noah's wife and that she is safe. Avery was taken hostage a week ago when he was summoned by King William II. He shortly discovered that Sam, his greatest enemy, has access to the king's scrolls and planned a surprise attack on Noah's men. Sam's soldiers were outnumbered and greatly disadvantaged in strength. They were all destroyed within the hour and Noah's soldiers were on their way back home, talk of the nights feast filled the empty forest and the manly laughed echoed around it.
He knew something was wrong when he walked in through his gates and his wife didn't come running to greet him. He didn't weep from the news of his wife's kidnapping. Didn't kill the shaking man who delivered the news. He roared and demanded his men to get ready for another battle.
How could he be that stupid and leave his greatest treasure with only the village men and the stables men? How could he not realise the trap earlier? If anything happened to her... He wouldn't be able to live with himself. Wouldn't be able to live at all. Fears controlled Noah now until all he could think about was holding his wife safe in his arms, in his home. The only place he could ever protect her. Only place he can keep an eye on her and rid her of her nightmares.
He rode on through the night and only stopped to rest the horses. His men were just as fearful as their laird, and wanted nothing more but for the gentle lady to return unharmed. But as they all sat in front of the fire, eating and drinking the little food they had brought along with them, Noah isolated himself behind some trees and preyed. Prayed for his wife's safe being. Prayed for the control to not kill the devil before he saw his wife with John, away from the battle. And then, he prayed for strength. He didn't go to sleep that night. Or any other night throughout their journey, and every time he gave their horses a break, he isolated himself and preyed the night away.
He shook himself out of his thoughts and stared at the door John planned to escape from. John has been in their far too long and the wait was killing Noah. What if something had happened? What if his plan failed and he put his wife in more danger then she was already in. He will be sure to give John hell for taking so long and giving him such thoughts, once they were back home, safely. He concentrated on the battle ahead. Went over and over the plan until all he could think about was the time that they were wasting this minute.
And then he saw her. His wife. His heart swelled at the sight of her living body. He didn't dare focus on the bruises and cuts on her face and surely all over the rest of her body. He just tried containing the anger for a little while longer so John could get her to safe grounds. And then, he promised god, he will give the man who did this to her a slow and painful death. To make him sorry he ever touched Noah's women. All his fears and all of his pain left that instant. Knowing that she was alive gave him the strength to concur the world. To kill every man who ever dared to displease her.
She turned and gave him a weak smile, and he wanted nothing more than to hold her. He grinned and could not contain the burst of laughter begging to escape. The enemy stared at him and whispered to each other, knowing that the cold must have finally made his mind snap. But even though he was tied to a post and apparently outnumbered, the fear in their eyes made Noah laugh even more. The fear increased when he looked to were his wife had exited from. She was in safe hands now, with his most faithful solider, and away from the battle.
He stopped laughing, stared at the enemy, and called the battle cry. The soldiers stood like statues, disbelief in their eyes as Noah's wolves, pounced and attacked. The sound of swords thrashing into bodies and the agonized screams were the last thing he heard as one of his men released him before jumping back into battle. Noah stormed forward and towards Sam, his pleasure growing when Sam all but collapsed onto his hands and knees and begged for his life.
"The devil take you!" Noah screamed before plunging his sword into the man's black heart.
Avery was his strength. She was the only reason he could fight. Was the reason he could survive.
And as the body before him stained the white snow, he looked up and cheered towards to sky, smiling as his solders cheered seconds after. He knew that his wife would be cheering too.
