"Uhm, I'm really sorry, but I'm going to have to ask you to leave," the barista from earlier said, resting her hand on Victor's shoulder, "we close in less than five minutes."
"It's no problem," Victor smiled at her, and took my hand, pulling me outside.
He looked at his phone and started laughing, "what's so funny?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"We were in there all day," he chuckled, catching his breath, "it's already almost five o'clock!"
"Oh my gosh! I have to get home and make dinner!" I gasped, "Lucy can't cook. The last time she tried, she almost burned down our house!"
"Calm down little one," Victor laughed, "I'll get you home."
"What about my car?" I asked, following him to his van.
He smiled and opened the door for me, "how about I pick you up tomorrow and take you to work? Sound like a plan?"
I blushed and bit my lip. Oh my god. This is the most anyone's ever thought of me. He was being so sweet and generous. "Sounds like a plan," I giggled as he climbed into the driver's seat.
"Give me directions to your house, and I'll have you home in no time," he chuckled, making ridiculous explorer hand motions and silly faces.
We drove to my house in silence, save me directing him which way to go, and when he stopped the car, he grabbed my hand to keep me from getting out. "Uh, Keira, I had a lot of fun today and I don't know, would you maybe like to go on a second date sometime soon, maybe?"
I giggled, "sure."
"Really? Awesome! Ok, uhm, here's my number," he babbled, writing his number on my arm. He jumped out of the car and opened my door for me.
"Thanks for the coffee, and the amazing time," I smiled, looking down at my feet.
"It's no problem, it was good to get away from the guys for awhile, and be in the company of a pretty lady," he winked, making my knees go week.
"Thanks again," I smiled as I opened the door, "I'll see you soon?"
"Yeah, see you soon," he replied, awkwardly waving, with his other hand buried deep in his pocket.
I walked inside and quietly shut the door behind me. But obviously not quiet enough. "Oh my god! You're back! Did you invite him in for dinner?!" Lucy squealed as she ran up to me.
"No?" I mumbled.
Lucy ran out the front door and came back a few minutes later, dragging Victor by his wrist, "now you have," she smirked, leading him into the living room.
"I'm so sorry, Victor," I smiled apologetically at him, "Lucy can be a bit of a handful."
"Rude," Lucy snapped, sitting down across from Victor.
"Ok, well I'm going to go make dinner, you two have, uh, fun," I shrugged, heading into the kitchen.
I hummed quietly to myself as I cooked spaghetti and meatballs. I listened to Lucy babble on and on about whatever it was she was telling Victor about. I felt bad for the poor guy, having to listen to Lucy's long drama filled stories. God, I hope she wasn't telling stories about me.
"Dinner's ready!" I called, carrying in the pasta, the sauce and some French bread. "That smells amazing!" Victor smiled, eagerly piling food onto his plate.
"I'd sure hope so, I did go to culinary school for two years," I giggled, putting some on my own plate.
Lucy piled her plate high with noodles and meatballs and proceeded to stuff her face. "That's insanely cute," I giggled at the massive amounts of spaghetti sauce that dripped down her chin.
"Thanks," she muttered around a mouthful of food.
"I'm sure Victor here is enjoying the view of my beautiful best friend eating like a small bear," I replied, taking a dainty bite of my bread.
"Oh fuck me," she mumbled, quickly holding her hand in front of her mouth, "sorry Vic!"
"It's nothing I haven't seen, I do live with three other men," he laughed, finishing off his first plate, and reaching for a second. "Damn, Keira, this shit is so good. I could eat your cooking all day every day."
"She's perfect wife material, I mean, she's smart AND she can cook!" Lucy quipped, earning a hard smack from me.
I blushed and avoided eye contact with Victor, "shut up, Lucy!"
Victor blushed too, twirling his spaghetti noodles around his plate with his fork. "Damn, I can practically taste the awkward," Lucy commented, dropping her plate onto the coffee table and belching before exiting the room.
"I apologize for her behavior," I shook my head, "she's such a child at times."
"Really, it's fine," Victor laughed, "can I help you with the dishes?" He asked, standing and taking his and Lucy's plates.
"You don't have to," I smiled politely, "I can do it."
Victor shook his head, "allow me to help, it's the least I could do for eating most of your food," he chuckled.
I shrugged my shoulders and quickly put the dishes into the sink, wiping down the stove and showing Victor where to put the leftovers. I filled the sink with warm water, added some dish soap, and started scrubbing the plates. "Why are your sleeves down? They're gonna be soaked by the time you're done," Victor chuckled, tugging at the elbow of my sleeve.
"Oh uh," oh god. He can't see my arms. "It's ok," I giggled, flicking water at him.
"You little shit!" Victor laughed, splashing me back.
We laughed and splashed water at each other as we ran through the kitchen. Victor slipped in a puddle and fell onto his butt, making me bust into hysterics. As I doubled over with laughter, I tripped over his feet, and landed with a soft "oomf" on Victor's lap. He chuckled quietly and his arms wrapped around my waist.
"You ok?" He asked, his eyes sparkling, and his hair sticking to his damp face and neck.
Oh hot dang, did he look good at the moment. His lips turned up into a smile as he realized I was staring at him. I gulped and shook my head, "no, yeah, I'm fine," I stuttered, quickly standing up and reaching down to help Victor to his feet.
"Awh, you're all wet..." He pouted, poking out his bottom lip, "and so am I."
"It's fine, and you look cute all wet," I giggled, brushing his hair out of his face.
Oh lord. What did I just say?! I cannot believe that just came out of my mouth. I'm so mortified. Oh Jesus, someone send help.
